  2019 ALL-SWAC FOOTBALL SECOND TEAM (COACHES): RB Dawonya Tucker, Senior, Prairie View A&M,...Tucker was named to the All-SWAC Second Team for the second-straight season after a brilliant season where he rushed for 1,121 yards and 15 touchdowns -- both second-most in the league -- on 180 carries. Among league players with at least 100 attempts, Tucker's 6.2 yards per carry average was the best in the conference. The Terrell, Texas native posted five multi-touchdown games and four 100-yard games, including a school-record 263 yards versus Grambling State. Tucker's 147 all-purpose yards per game average is eighth-best in the nation. - Prairie View A&M Football

  Dawonya Tucker ran for 91 yards and three touchdowns and Prairie View A&M defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 37-20 on Saturday. Trazon Connley completed 12 of 17 passes for 188 yards and a touchdown for the Panthers. Six of his completions, including a 25-yard touchdown, were to Jordan Jones who had 119 receiving yards. The Panthers (4-5, 3-3 SWAC) led 16-0 at halftime and added the Connley-to-Jones touchdown in the third-quarter touchdown before UAPB got on the board. Trailing 30-7 midway through the fourth quarter, Shannon Patrick threw two touchdown passes to draw the Golden Lions (5-5, 2-4) within 30-20 but Tucker closed out the scoring with a 49-yard TD run for the Panthers. Patrick completed 15 of 23 passes for 237 yards and the two touchdowns. - AP College Football

  SEPT 30/WEEK 5 SWAC CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Prairie View A&M's Dawonya Tucker (5-5, 180, RB, Sr., Terrell, Texas),...Tucker had a historical night as he captured the single game record in rushing yard for Prairie View bypassing his teammate with 263 yards as Jalen Morton recently held the record with 255 yards.   Dawonya Tucker ran for 263 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries and Prairie View A&M held off a late rally to beat Grambling 42-36 on Saturday. The Panthers (2-3, 2-1 Southwest Athletic Conference) secured the victory when Grambling was called for illegal touching on an onside kick with 1:23 left in the game. The Tigers (0-4, 0-2) scored two touchdowns in the final three minutes - Charles Wright's 2-yard run cut the deficit to 42-29 with 2:34 left and Quincy Mitchell blocked and returned a punt 55 yards to pull Grambling within six points with 1:25 left. Jalen Morton passed for 192 yards, a touchdown and an interception and ran 14 times for 128 yards and two TDs for the Panthers. Prairie View A&M took control with a pair of touchdowns late in the second quarter that gave the Panthers a 31-23 lead before half.   Jalen Morton threw for 350 yards and two scores and Dawonya Tucker ran for 190 yards and three touchdowns to lead Prairie View past Texas Southern 44-23 on Saturday. The Panthers now have beaten Texas Southern five consecutive years, and have taken 13 of the last 16 contests since 2004. Tucker amassed his yards on just 11 carries for a 17.1 yards-per-carry average. Tony Mullins caught six passes from Morton for 141 yards and a score. Defensively, Tre'Shaud Smith accounted for 12 total tackles with eight coming solo.

DeAndre Johnson threw a 12-yard score to Tren'Davian Dixon with 13 seconds left in the first quarter to give Texas Southern its last lead of the game. Prairie View took control when Tucker scored on runs of 17 and 66 yards and Zach Elder added a 23-yard field goal before halftime to make it 23-13. After the break, Morton threw a 10-yard scored to Kalen Riles a little more than five minutes into the third.
