 Draft Scout *Raekwon McMillan News
09/03/17 - MLB Raekwon McMillan, who sustained a season-ending knee injury in the preseason opener against Atlanta, was officially placed on injured reserve Saturday. McMillan, the second-round pick from Ohio State, was the starter.
08/12/17 - MLB Raekwon McMillan, the rookie second-round pick from Ohio State, sustained a torn ACL in his right knee in Thursday's game against Atlanta, according to reports. McMillan, a projected starter, was injured covering a punt, causing a segment of fans to question why he was playing special teams. "Because he was going to play it this year," head coach Adam Gase said. "How many snaps at nickel are we going to play this year? We're going to play 600-plus. We're going to play 300 snaps at base, probably. He was going to play base. You've only got 46 guys on the roster that are going to play (on game day), so somebody has got to play it."
08/01/17 - Rookie MLB Raekwon McMillan, the second-round pick from Ohio State, is showing promise on the field and in his perception of the league. "One thing I've learned is you earn respect by going out there and doing it every day," he said. "You can't just come in just because I'm a second-round draft pick and expect people to respect me. They don't know who I am. They don't know what I'm capable of until I went out there and showed them. "So when I came here, yes, I'm a second-round pick, this, that and the third; but I had to go out there and show the older guys. And once I got more reps in with them, I started earning some of their trust. I'm sure I haven't fully earned everybody's trust, but over time we'll go out the better together." McMillan, who is flanked by strong-side linebacker Lawrence Timmons and weak-side linebacker Kiko Alonso, said the game is beginning to slow down. "When I first came here in the spring, my head was spinning, I wasn't making the right calls, coach is in my ear - I've got the headphone in my ear so he didn't really have to yell," McMillan recalled. "He's in my ear the whole time. But now it's kind of slowing down to me. I kind of have a full understanding, repping in with ones and the twos. So it's just a blessing to be where I'm at."
07/27/17 - LB Raekwon McMillan, the second-round pick from Ohio State, got some time with the first team in the middle on Thursday. The Dolphins have said they want to mix things up among the linebackers to cross-train and give guys looks at different jobs. But ideally, McMillan starts in the middle and Lawrence Timmons starts on the strong side with Kiko Alonso on the weak side.
01/04/17 - Standout middle linebacker Raekwon McMillan has become the third member of Ohio State's defense to declare for the NFL draft. He follows All-American safety Malik Hooker and cornerback Gareon Conley, who announced this week they would skip their senior seasons for the NFL. McMillan's decision, announced Wednesday via Twitter, wasn't unexpected. A unanimous All-Big Ten player the past two seasons, McMillan had 15 tackles and a sack of Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson in Ohio State's 31-0 loss to the Tigers last Saturday. Other Buckeyes who haven't made an announcement but could leave early for the draft include defensive end Tyquan Lewis, cornerback Marshon Lattimore and H-back Curtis Samuel. Quarterback J.T. Barrett seemed to indicate in his postgame comments Saturday that he would stay for his senior season. - AP Sports
