 Draft Scout Sharif Finch News
03/22/18 - The Temple Football program held its annual Pro Day on March 19 as its 2017 Seniors performed in front of NFL personnel. Nearly every NFL team was represented with 30 teams sending a collection of nearly 40 total scouts. The 2017 senior class was the most successful in Temple history winning 33 games over the last four seasons. Following in the footsteps of the last two classes which produced a total of six draft choices and over a dozen professional players, the talent in this class is deep. Many eyes were on defensive back Sean "Champ" Chandler, who was selected to perform at last month's NFL Combine.

Wide receivers Adonis Jennings and Keith Kirkwood also previously displayed their potential in front of the NFL talent evaluators at the Senior Bowl back in January. However, 12 additional Owls spent the past three months training for this opportunity to open some eyes. Defensive tackle Jullian Taylor (29 reps of 225-lb. bench press) and offensive tackle Cole Boozer (26 reps) stood out throughout the day. Boozer, who was the only player to play every snap on either side of the ball last season, continued to train at Temple under the supervision of Temple's strength and conditioning coaches while finishing his master's degree. OL Brian Carter, DE Sharif Finch, CB Artrel Foster, OL Leon Johnson, CB Mike Jones, LS Josh Lang, LS Corey Lerch, DE Jacob Martin, FB Nick Sharga, and OL Adrian Sullivan also participated. - Temple Football

12/30/17 - 2017 ALL-AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM (COACHES): DL Sharif Finch, Temple, Sr.,...Sharif Finch and Jacob Martin entered their final seasons in cherry and white with question marks. Neither was able to contribute much on the field during the spring. Finch was forced to redshirt last season due to injury and Martin suffered a foot injury prior to the American Championship game and had surgery right before the 2016 Military Bowl. Each came back to start in 11 games and posted the best seasons of their careers. Finch nearly doubled his career totals in sacks (7.5Z) and TFLs (14.5) and posted a career-high 51 tackles. Martin exploded more than doubling his initial three-year output at Temple. He posted 39 tackles, a team-high 8.0 sacks, and 11.0 tackles for loss. Two of his sacks forced fumbles and one he returned for a touchdown. "Sharif and Jacob were both coming off injury so we weren't certain what they would be able to contribute this season," said Collins. "Even in the spring when they were off the field, they provided outstanding senior leadership. On the field, though, they were able to take over games. They were constantly playing in the other team's backfield whether getting sacks in the pass game or tackles for loss in the run game." - Temple Football
11/07/17 - NOV 6 AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Sharif Finch, Sr., DE, Temple, Neptune, N.J.,...Finch led a Temple defense that limited Navy to 362 yards of offense in a 34-26 win against the Midshipmen. Finch had a team-high nine tackles, including 2.0 sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss as the Owls held Navy the national leader in rushing yards entering the game to 136 rushing yards, or 240 yards below its season average. - American Athletic Conference Football
10/27/15 - OCT 26 AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Sharif Finch, Jr., DL, Temple, Henrico, Va.,...Finch blocked two punts in the fourth quarter and saw both plays lead to touchdowns as No. 21/22 Temple rallied for a 24-14 win against East Carolina. Finch's first block came with the Owls trailing 14-10, leading to a seven-play drive that gave the Owls the lead. His second block came on East Carolina's next series, setting the Owls up at the Pirate 15-yard line and leading to a two-play drive to give Temple a 10-point lead. - American Athletic Conference Football
10/13/14 - SEPT 22 AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE WEEKLY HONOR ROLL: Sharif Finch, So., DE, Temple, Henrico, Va.,...Had three tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a 65-yard interception return for a touchdown in a 59-0 win against Delaware State. Led a defense that held the Hornets to 93 yards of offense. - American Athletic Conference football
