08/22/16 - Notre Dame hands out discipline after weekend arrests...Notre Dame dismissed safety Max Redfield and suspended cornerback Devin Butler indefinitely as a result of arrests over the weekend, coach Brian Kelly announced Sunday. Six Notre Dame players were arrested in two separate incidents Friday and Saturday. Redfield, running back Dexter Williams, linebacker Te'von Coney cornerback Ashton White and receiver Kevin Stepherson were arrested for possession of marijuana, which is a misdemeanor. The players were stopped by a trooper in Fulton County -- which is about 50 miles outside of South Bend -- for driving 73 mph in a 60-mph zone, according to police.
Butler was arrested following allegations that he pushed a woman outside a South Bend, Ind., lounge and an altercation with a police officer. A South Bend police officer said Butler punched and slammed him to the ground outside the bar. Officers had to use a stun gun to subdue Butler, police said. Butler faces two felony charges: resisting arrest and battery of a police officer. Redfield and Butler, both seniors, received the most severe punishment because they are upperclassman. The university could further discipline all six players, according to Kelly. - The Sports Xchange
