Draft Scout Billy Price News
04/23/18 - C Billy Price, who suffered a pectoral injury at the Scouting Combine, said on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Monday that he has made a lot of progress in his recovery and has regained full range of motion. The former Ohio State star said his recovery is to the point that he is bench-pressing 10-pound dumbbells for the first time since suffering the injury. During the Combine Price suffered a partially torn pectoral while doing the bench press. Surgery was required to repair the injury. Price, who can also play guard, was projected as a first-round pick by NFLDraftScout.com before the injury, but is now listed as the third-ranked center prospect and the No. 72 prospect overall. NFLDraftScout.com projects he will be taken in the second or third round.
03/06/18 - C Billy Price, projected as a first-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, had surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn pectoral muscle sustained during last week's NFL Scouting Combine, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported. Price is rated the top center prospect in the draft and the No. 17 prospect overall by NFLDraftScout.com. Whether the surgery will affect his draft status remains to be seen. Recovery time is estimated at four months, so he is expected to be able to participate in training camp for the team that selects him.
03/02/18 - Ohio State interior offensive lineman Billy Price, considered a mid-first round prospect by NFLDraftScout.com, said Friday he suffered only an "incomplete pec tear" while doing the bench press at the NFL Scouting Combine. Price stopped after three repetitions on Thursday, grimacing in obvious discomfort and reaching toward his left shoulder. He said he received results of an MRI exam on Friday morning. "Looking at the MRI results, we were able to see a little bit of an issue, nothing that's going to force me to miss time at all," he said at a media interview in Indianapolis. "I'll be fine for the season going forward and I should be fine going into training camp." That was quite a relief for Price, ranked 16th overall by NFLDraftScout.com. "Oh, it's huge. You look at guys who have a complete pec tear. I have no bruising, which is huge for me. I woke up this morning and looked down there like, 'Thank God,'" he said. "No bruising, no issues in that sense. Yeah, I'm definitely happy. It's definitely something minor. It's not something that's going to make me lose time or impact me going forward in the season."
That said, he did add that he would seek a second opinion by no later than the end of the weekend and that surgery remains a potential option. He said surgery would require a four-month rehab, according to the Indianapolis Colts doctors. Price is projected to go 12th overall to the Cincinnati Bengals in a mock draft by NFLDraftScout.com's Rob Rang. Price was an All-American at left guard in 2016 before earning the same honors in 2017 as a center. Price said he had met with 19 teams over three days at the Combine, feeling that he "put my best foot forward." He said he was unsure how the setback would affect his draft stock. "Playing 55 games at Ohio State, the resume and the body of work is there," Price said. - The Sports Xchange
03/01/18 - One of the top offensive line prospects in this year's NFL Draft apparently suffered an injury during the Scouting Combine on Thursday in Indianapolis. Multiple media outlets reported that Ohio State center Billy Price appeared to injure his left shoulder during bench presses. He stopped his bench press after a few repetitions, and walked away while grabbing his left shoulder and pectoral area. The severity of the injury has not been determined. Price, a first-team All-American and the Rimington Trophy winner as the best center in college football, is ranked as the top center prospect in the draft and the 16th-best prospect overall by NFLDraftScout, which projects him as a first-round draft pick. The 312-pound Price also played both guard positions during his time at Ohio State. - The Sports Xchange
02/28/18 - 2018 NFL Combine: Interior OL Measures Up to Expectations: Billy Price, a two-time All-American, also came up a bit short in the measurements with just 32-inch arms and a 75 1/4-inch wingspan, the smallest of any offensive linemen measured Wednesday. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
