 Draft Scout Marcus Cox News
12/26/16 - 2016 ALL-SUN BELT SECOND TEAM (COACHES/MEDIA): Marcus Cox, Appalachian State, Sr., RB, Management,...Cox’s season will be one to remember both for the senior running back and App State fans. His 25-yard touchdown run against UL Monroe made him the school’s all-time leading rusher. He needs 40 yards for 5,000 for his career, a feat fewer than 25 backs ever have accomplished. Cox also needs 128 yards to reach 1,000 for the season in only nine games. He averaged 109 yards per game, good for second in the league only to Moore, and had eight rushing touchdowns. - Appalachian State Football
12/17/16 - Appalachian State tailback Marcus Cox has topped 5,000 yards in career rushing. Cox became the 22nd FBS player to reach that milestone with a 20-yard run up the middle late in the first quarter Saturday in the Camellia Bowl against Toledo. The Mountaineers moved up from FCS after Cox's freshman season, but the NCAA does count him on the FBS charts. He came into the game needing 40 yards to join the 5,000-yard club, jumping over Kansas State's Darren Sproles. He came into the game trailing only San Diego State's Donnel Pumphrey among active major college runners. Toledo's Kareem Hunt ranked third in that group entering the bowl with 4,825 career yards. - AP Sports
11/22/16 - NOV 21 SUN BELT OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Marcus Cox (Appalachian State, Senior, Running Back, Criminal Justice)...Senior running back Marcus Cox became Appalachian State’s all-time leading rusher during the Mountaineers’ 42-17 win over UL Monroe on Saturday. Cox rushed for 153 yards on 21 carries and had three touchdowns. Cox passed Kevin Richardson (4,804 yards) and now has 4,820 career yards. He also had his 27th career 100-yard game and had his 49th, 50th, and 51st career rushing touchdowns, which is third on App’s career list. - Sun Belt Football
10/07/16 - SEPT 12 SUN BELT OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Marcus Cox (Appalachian State, Sr., RB, Management)...Cox had his 24th career 100-yard game and three touchdowns by halftime as App State rolled to a 31-7 win over Old Dominion on Saturday. The senior had touchdown runs of 1-yard, 2-yards, and 10-yards to help the App build a 24-7 halftime lead. The game was the sixth in his career ith three rushing touchdowns and his first since the middle of 2014. He broke a 20-yard run on the opening drive to set up the Mountaineers in the red zone for their initial score. Cox is averaging 124 yards per game and 5.9 yards per carry this season. - Sun Belt Football
09/19/16 - Appalachian State running back Marcus Cox has left Saturday's game against Miami with a lower body injury and will not return, the team announced. Cox, the Mountaineers' leading rusher, appeared to injure himself at the end of a 55-yard touchdown run that was called back because of a holding penalty. Cox has seven carries for 30 yards. He came into the game with 248 yards and three touchdowns on the season. Jalin Moore has taken over at running back for the Mountaineers. - AP Sports
