He finished the year with 119 tackles, tied for the 16th-most in school single season history, and ended the regular season first in the league with a 9.9 tackles per game average. Brown became the first Bruin to hit the century mark in tackles since linebacker Eric Kendricks totaled 149 stops in the 2014 season. 11/04/13 - WEEK 10 PAC-12 SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: UCLA LB Jayon Brown, a linebacker from Tampa, Fla., had an outstanding day on the Bruins’ kick coverage team as UCLA beat Colorado 45-23 at home on Saturday. He was credited with two tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in kick off coverage against the Buffs. His fumble recovery on the 14-yard line late in the second quarter set up a touchdown that extended the Bruins’ lead to 21-10 before the half while his forced fumble on a fourth-quarter kick-off pinned the Buffs at their own 21-yard. Also nominated for special teams player of the week honors was punter Drew Riggleman of Arizona, place-kicker Zane Gonzalez of Arizona State and defensive end George Uko of USC. - Pac-12 football
