Draft Scout George Kittle News
11/08/18 - TE George Kittle went over 100 yards for the second time this season with four catches for 108 yards and a touchdown in the Week 9 win over the Raiders. He is just the second 49ers tight end to record four games with 90 or more receiving yards in a season since 1970. TE Vernon Davis was the other with five in 2009.
10/08/18 - TE George Kittle led the 49ers with five catches and 83 yards.
10/03/18 - TE George Kittle caught an 82-yard touchdown pass from QB C.J. Beathard in Week 4 against the Chargers, which was the longest TD reception by a tight end in franchise history and the longest non-return TD in the NFL this season. Kittle leads the team in receptions (18) and receiving yards (316).
10/01/18 - TE George Kittle caught six passes for 125 yards and a touchdown Sunday.
Through four games, the second-year tight end, drafted in the fifth round, has 18 catches for 316 yards, an average of 17.6 yards per catch.
"I think he's been good since he got here," head coach Kyle Shanahan said on Monday. "He was a guy we were very surprised on that he fell to us in the draft. I thought he was one of our best players last year going into the season. He got banged up early on. ... He made it through and kept playing, but he wasn't moving the same way he started out."
In his rookie season, Kittle had 43 catches for 515 yards and two touchdowns. He finished strong and it carried over into this season. With his former Iowa teammate Beathard back behind center due to Garoppolo's season-ending knee injury, the pair connected on six-of-eight targets in Sunday's loss.
Kittle caught a pass over the middle and outran the Chargers secondary to complete an 82-yard touchdown reception, the longest by a tight end in the franchise's storied history.
09/30/18 - TE George Kittle caught an 82-yard touchdown pass from C.J. Beathard against the Chargers. Kittle finished with six catches for 125 yards, which is more than San Francisco's running game could muster against the Chargers' defense (only 76 yards on 21 carries).
