Draft Scout Pat Elflein News
09/24/18 - C Pat Elflein could return to the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Rams. Elflein returned Sunday for the first time since undergoing offseason ankle and shoulder injuries. He played 22 snaps, but Brett Jones started his third straight game at center and played 44 snaps. Elflein said he hasn't been told if he'll start Thursday. "I wanted to kind of test the waters a little bit," Elflein said. "Stamina felt good. I feel great now. It was good to get out there and get the feet wet again a little bit." If Elflein starts, it's possible Jones could move to guard. Jones started at center and guard last year for New York but has focused mainly at center since coming to Minnesota in a preseason trade.
09/21/18 - C Pat Elflein will play for the first time this season against the Bills after missing the first two games because of shoulder and ankle injuries. He was a full participant in practice beginning Wednesday.
09/19/18 - C Pat Elflein was a full participant in practice on Wednesday, the first time he practiced in full since he's returned from the preseason physically unable to perform list. Elflein, a 14-game starter as a rookie, has been slowly recovering from offseason ankle and shoulder surgeries. Brett Jones has filled in as the starting center in Elflein's place.
09/12/18 - C Pat Elflein was limited in Wednesday's practice for Minnesota as he continues his recovery from offseason ankle and shoulder surgeries. Elflein isn't expected to play Sunday against Green Bay. Brett Jones would make his second start for the Vikings at center.
08/26/18 - C Pat Elflein will remain a bystander for the remainder of the preseason, coach Mike Zimmer announced. Zimmer told reporters on Sunday that Elflein will not return to practice this week ahead of the team's final preseason game on Thursday. The second-year player was placed on the preseason physically-unable-to-perform list on July 25. Elflein underwent two surgeries in the offseason after fracturing his left ankle in the NFC Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He also injured his shoulder in Atlanta in December.
