Draft Scout Kyle Fuller News
03/20/18 - CB Kyle Fuller was signed to a four-year contract by the Bears, the team announced Tuesday. The move comes four days after the Bears matched the Green Bay Packers' offer sheet to Fuller, whose new deal with Chicago is worth $56 million, including $18 million guaranteed, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
03/16/18 - CB Kyle Fuller is staying with Chicago after the Bears matched an offer sheet by the Green Bay Packers, multiple media outlets reported Friday.
Fuller's new deal is worth $56 million over four years, including $18 million guaranteed, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
The Bears put the transition tag on Fuller earlier this month with a one-year salary of $12.9 million. That gave Chicago the right to match any offer Fuller received.
When the Bears placed the transition tag on Fuller, general manager Ryan Pace said the team was buying time to reach a long-term deal with Fuller.
Had Chicago not matched the offer, it would have lost Fuller and received no compensation in return from the Packers.
Fuller has been a starter in all three of his seasons with the Bears and has eight career interceptions. That includes two picks he made while starting all 16 games in 2017.
03/06/18 - CB Kyle Fuller had the transition tag placed on him. The transition tag will pay Fuller $12.971 million for the 2018 season, as opposed to the $14.975 million he would have received under the franchise tag. Fuller recorded 67 tackles, two interceptions and 22 pass breakups this past season, one year after sitting out the entire 2016 campaign after undergoing a knee scope in the summer.
01/03/18 - CB Kyle Fuller was all but out the Halas Hall door after a knee injury sidelined him all last season.
Considering that and an unimpressive second season in 2015, the Bears didn't pick up Fuller's fifth-year option and now it's going to backfire as he will be a free agent. Fuller finished with 22 passes defended, 15 more than any other Bear. He tied for the team high with two interceptions and showed a physical side never before seen, as he tied for the team high with 60 unassisted tackles.
10/12/17 - CB Kyle Fuller continues to impress with man-to-man coverage after he recovered from the knee injury that sidelined him throughout last season.
"He's been healthy," head coach John Fox said. "Last year was frustrating for everybody. As a player, you work too hard and put too much time into this to not play. The fact he's healthy is why he's been way more productive."
The Bears weren't sure about Fuller this season to the point where they failed to pick up the extra year on his contract, and he'll be a free agent after this season.
"He's been our most available cornerback after a year where he had zero availability," defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said. "So that's a big improvement. I like the way he's playing, I like the mindset, I like the attitude. He's playing with more confidence."
