11/03/18 - Darrynton Evans ran for 159 yards and a touchdown as Appalachian State beat Coastal Carolina 23-7 on Saturday night. Evans scored on a 26-yard run early in the first quarter and his 39-yard run helped set up Marcus Williams Jr.'s 1-yard score midway through the fourth. Evans entered as the second leading rusher in the Sun Belt Conference averaging 105 yards a game. Williams had 103 yards on 19 carries. Jacob Huesman threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Corey Xavier Sutton in the second quarter for Appalachian State (6-2, 4-1). Huesman was 9-of-19 passing for 127 yards. Derambez Drinkard intercepted Huesman twice, including a 60-yard pick-6 in the first quarter for Coastal Carolina's (5-4, 2-3) only score. 10/22/18 - OCT 22 SUN BELT CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Darrynton Evans, Appalachian State (So., RB, Oak Hill, Fla.)...In his second career start, Evans set career highs with 203 all-purpose yards, 183 rushing yards and 26 rushing attempts, scoring two total touchdowns to lead App State to a 27-17 victory over Louisiana. His 20-yard reception in the first half was his first career receiving TD. He also had a touchdown run that gave the Mountaineers an early 7-0 lead. On a day when the Mountaineers passing attack wasn't clicking on all cylinders, Evans carried the load, including a third-quarter, 65-yard run that set up an App State touchdown to give his team a 24-10 lead. 10/20/18 - Darrynton Evans ran for a career-best 183 yards and a touchdown to help Appalachian State get past Louisiana-Lafayette 27-17 on Saturday to maintain a perfect record in Sun Belt Conference play. Appalachian State (5-1, 3-0) has won five straight since opening the season with a 45-38 loss to then-No. 10 Penn State. The Mountaineers will face Georgia Southern in a conference showdown on Thursday. The Mountaineers took the lead for good, 17-10, when Zac Thomas passed to Evans from 20 yards out for the score with 2:11 left in the first half. Marcus Williams Jr. scored on a 6-yard run early in the third and Chandler Staton added a field goal to give Appalachian State a 27-10 lead with 2:46 remaining in the game. Akeem Davis-Gaither had a career-best 15 tackles with two sacks. The Mountaineers entered the game having held the opposition scoreless in the second half in four straight games. 10/11/18 - Darrynton Evans ran for 115 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries to help Appalachian State beat Arkansas State 35-9 on Tuesday night. The Mountaineers (4-1, 2-0 Sun Belt Conference) took the lead for good at 14-9 on Zac Thomas' 25-yard back shoulder pass to Corey Sutton with 2:57 left in the second quarter. Tae Hayes intercepted Justice Hansen's pass three plays later and his 19-yard return set up the Mountaineers with a first-and-goal from the 3. Evans' 1-yard TD run made it 21-9 with 45 seconds left in the half. Jalin Moore got the Mountaineers on the scoreboard with a 27-yard TD run early in the second quarter. He suffered a right ankle injury while being tackled as he reached for the end zone and was carted off the field.
