 Draft Scout News
01/09/19 - Suspended Clemson defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence is headed to the NFL. Lawrence is the 350-pound, 6-foot-4 lineman who missed the Tigers' College Football Playoff games after he and two teammates tested positive for the banned substance ostarine. Lawrence attended both games and celebrated with teammates Monday night after a 44-16 victory over Alabama in the national championship game. Lawrence announced his decision on Twitter Wednesday. He was a three-year starter and is considered a first-round NFL pick in next spring's draft. He is the third Clemson starter on defense to give up his eligibility to go pro. Earlier, cornerback Trayvon Mullen and linebacker Tre Lamar said they would enter the NFL draft. Mullen was the defensive MVP of the championship game. - AP College Football
12/02/17 - 2017 ALL-ACC FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM (COACHES/MEDIA): DT Dexter Lawrence, So., Clemson, 108 Votes,...Six Clemson interior linemen, three on offense and three on defense, were named first-team All-ACC on November 27. It marked the first time Clemson had six linemen earn first-team all-conference honors. The previous high was just four set eight previous seasons, including 2016. Wilkins and Lawrence were second-team selections last year on defense, while Ferrell was named for the first time as a red-shirt sophomore. Ferrell leads the team in tackles for loss and sacks. - Clemson Football
11/11/17 - Clemson starting defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence is out of the game with Florida State due to a foot injury that's hampered him the past few weeks. Lawrence, the 6-foot-5, 340-pound sophomore, was in sweats and a walking boot on his right foot during warmups. Lawrence had started the previous nine games, making 33 tackles. Jabril Robinson and Nyles Pinckney are listed as Lawrence's backups. Lawrence was the Atlantic Coast Conference defensive freshman of the year in Clemson's national championship season in 2016. He finished the year with 79 tackles and set the school freshman record with seven sacks. - AP College Football
07/20/17 - DT Dexter Lawrence, a true sophomore who isn't eligible for the 2018 NFL Draft, should be one of the top prospects in 2019. The 340-pounder made 79 tackles, including 9.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks, as a true freshman for a Tigers team that won the national title. He was the ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year. "I've had some guys leave our program that looked like him," said coach Dabo Swinney, "but I haven't had many show up that looked like him."
07/10/17 - 2017 Preseason Bednarik Award Watchlist: DT Dexter Lawrence, Clemson,...Lawrence had 78 tackles, including a Clemson true freshman record seven sacks in helping the Tigers to the 2016 National Championship. The native of Wake Forest, N.C. was named the ACC Freshman Defensive Player of the Year and was a unanimous freshman All-American. - Clemson Football
