 Draft Scout Ben Hicks News
01/29/19 - Former SMU quarterback Ben Hicks will play his final year at Arkansas. Hicks made the announcement on Twitter. He will reunite with Arkansas coach Chad Morris and coordinator Joe Craddock, who recruited him to SMU in 2015. Hicks is SMU's all-time leader with 9,081 yards and 71 touchdown passes. Last season, he completed 208 of 372 passes for 2,582 yards, with 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Opportunity is knocking for Hicks. Cole Kelley has transferred from Arkansas to Southeastern Louisiana and senior Ty Storey's name is in the NCAA transfer database. They combined for 11 starts in 2018 as Arkansas sputtered to a 2-10 finish. The Razorbacks still have redshirt freshmen Connor Noland and John Stephen Jones and redshirt sophomore Daulton Hyatt. KJ Jefferson also has signed with the program. - AP College Football
11/05/18 - NOV 5 AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ben Hicks, SMU, Jr., QB, Waco, Texas,...Hicks threw four touchdown passes and finished with 318 passing yards and no interceptions on 43 attempts to lead SMU to a 45-31 win against No. 17 Houston, bringing the Mustangs within a game of the Cougars in The American's West Division race. Hicks threw TD passes of 7, 17, 1 and 59 yards and finished with more than 300 passing yards for a school-record 10th time in his career. - American Athletic Conference Football
11/04/18 - Ben Hicks threw for 318 yards and four touchdowns and SMU beat No. 17 Houston 45-31 on Saturday night, the second time in three years the Mustangs upset a ranked Cougars team. The Mustangs (4-5, 3-2 American) never trailed, jumping out to a 17-0 lead after Hicks threw his second TD, a 17-yarder to Tyler Page less than a minute into the second quarter. Houston played its first game as a ranked team under second-year coach Major Applewhite. "This is really the first time we've left a ballgame all year where we said we've played well on defense, played well on offense and played well on special teams," SMU coach Sonny Dykes said. "And so I think the bar's been set for our guys from a performance standpoint and I feel like we know what we're capable of and I'm excited to see how they respond from here." Hicks threw three touchdowns as a redshirt freshman in the shocker two years ago, when SMU beat the then-No. 11 Cougars 38-16 and knocked them all of the way out of the poll. - AP College Football
10/22/18 - OCT 22 AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE HONOR ROLL: Ben Hicks, SMU, Jr., QB,...Completed 21 of 40 passes for 291 yards and three touchdowns, including the game winning TD with 1:15 left, in a 27-23 win at Tulane. - American Athletic Conference Football

The late TD gave the Mustangs (3-4, 2-1 American) the lead for the first time all game, and they sealed the win when Richard Moore strip-sacked Jonathan Banks, with Jake Hall recovering with 39 seconds remaining. SMU ran out the final seconds.
