02/27/18 - 2018 NFL Combine: Players Who Need to Interview Well: Simmie Cobbs, WR, Indiana...Although his off-field isn't a substantial concern, Cobbs maturity will be questioned following an arrest last summer for resisting law enforcement at a concert. He also was suspended the previous season for one game after violating team rules. - Dane Brugler,
12/21/17 - Indiana redshirt junior receiver Simmie Cobbs, who is second in the Big Ten with 72 receptions, announced on Thursday that he will enter the 2018 NFL draft. Cobbs is rated as the No. 5 junior wideout, according to, which projected him as a 2019 second-round pick before Thursday's announcement. Cobbs (6-foot-4, 220 pounds) earned first-team All-Big Ten honors this season, with 841 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. He caught 60 passes for 1,035 yards as a sophomore in 2015 before playing in only one game in 2016 because of an ankle injury. He received a medical redshirt. "We would like to thank Simmie Cobbs for all that he has given to the Indiana Hoosiers over the last four years," head coach Tom Allen said in a statement. "He had a tremendous career here at IU and we wish him nothing but the very best as he pursues his career in the National Football League." The Big Ten's leading pass-catcher this season, Maryland junior D.J. Moore (80 catches for 1,033 yards and eight TDs), also declared this week for the 2018 draft. had him rated with a fifth-round grade for 2019. - The Sports Xchange
12/15/17 - 2017 ALL-BIG TEN FIRST TEAM (COACHES): WR Simmie Cobbs Jr., Indiana,...A 2016 and 2017 Biletnikoff Award Watch Lister, Cobbs finished second in the conference in receptions (72, T-17th nationally), third in yardage (841, 47th) and shared fourth in receiving touchdowns (8, T-34th). His 72 catches are tied for fourth on the school's single-season chart, his three 100-yard games are tied for eighth and his eight receiving scores are tied for 10th. On the Indiana career lists, Cobbs shares fourth with seven 100-yard games, while his 1,990 receiving yards and 139 receptions are eighth. The Oak Park, Ill., native accounted for half of the league's six double-digit catch games, which tied for third among Power 5 wideouts. Cobbs is the lone receiver in the Big Ten and one of eight Power 5 receivers with three 10-plus catch games in 2017. He opened the year with a career-high 11 grabs for 149 yards with one TD against No. 2 Ohio State. Cobbs pulled in 10 balls for 98 yards against Charleston Southern, made 10 receptions for 138 yards and a pair of touchdowns at Maryland, and closed out the year with 10 seven catches for 105 yards and one TD at Purdue. - Indiana Football
11/11/17 - Host Indiana sacked Illinois quarterback Jeff George, Jr. seven times, and Richard LaGow threw two touchdown passes as the Hoosiers snapped a six-game losing streak with a 24-14 Big Ten victory over the Fighting Illini. LaGow, who passed for 289 yards, connected with Ian Thomas for a 4-yard touchdown with 48 seconds left in the second quarter to increase Indiana's lead to 14-0 after Morgan Wilkerson broke a scoreless tie with a 2-yard run with 6:18 remaining in the first half. Indiana (4-6, 1-6) keeps its chances of a third consecutive bowl game alive if it can beat Rutgers and Purdue in its final two games. Illinois (2-8, 0-7) cut the deficit to 14-7 on the first play of the second half on George's 77-yard touchdown pass to Louis Dorsey. A 28-yard Griffin Oakes field goal with 5:13 left in the third period gave the Hoosiers a 17-7 lead. George countered with a 14-yard touchdown pass to Caleb Reams with 12:53 left in the game to pull the Illini within 17-14. But LaGow's 5-yard touchdown pass to Simmie Cobbs with only 5:45 left essentially iced it for the Hoosiers. Indiana had not beaten a Big Ten opponent since Purdue since the 2016 final. - The Sports Xchange
10/31/17 - Indiana dropped another close game, but redshirt junior WR Simmie Cobbs continues to pile up the numbers with 10 receptions for 138 yards and two touchdowns against Maryland. He leads the Big Ten with 54 catches this season, but is averaging only 11.1 yards per grab, which is also a reflection of the issues the Hoosiers have had at quarterback. Cobbs is a projected day two draft pick. - Dane Brugler,
