 Draft Scout News
01/04/19 - Stanford receiver JJ Arcega-Whiteside will skip his senior season to declare for the NFL draft. Arcega-Whiteside announced his decision Friday, thanking his coaches, teammates and family members. Arcega-Whiteside caught 63 passes for 1,059 yards and 14 touchdowns this season for the Cardinal. The 6-foot-3 Arcega-Whiteside is dangerous in the red zone with his size and jumping ability and is projected as a second-day selection in the draft. His 23 TD catches the past two seasons are the third most in college football in that span. Arcega-Whiteside is the third Stanford player to declare for the draft. He joins guard Nate Herbig and tight end Kaden Smith. - AP College Football
11/05/18 - WR J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, who came into last week second in the nation with 11 touchdown receptions, had to be helped off the field Saturday after suffering what appeared to be a right knee injury. "J.J.'s an All-American," coach David Shaw said. "He's one of the best, if not the best, receiver in America. When a guy like that's not on the field, you miss him." He is questionable for this week.
10/02/18 - WR J.J. Arcega-Whiteside will be key in kick-starting the Stanford passing game after a rough week in South Bend. The senior has 22 catches for 438 yards and eight touchdowns. No other Stanford wide receiver has a TD reception this season. Tight end Colby Parkinson has three.
09/04/18 - SEPT 3 PAC-12 OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: JJ Arcega-Whiteside, Sr., WR, Stanford (Inman, S.C.)...In Stanford's 31-10 win over San Diego State, Arcega-Whiteside's 226 receiving yards were the third-most in a game in Stanford history, and the most since 1999...He caught three touchdowns and a two-point conversion, and in all, finished with six receptions and 37.67 yards per catch. His touchdown catches went for 38, 19 and a career-long 80 yards...His first touchdown gave Stanford the lead just before halftime and his last touchdown came on 3rd-and-15 from the Stanford 20-yard line with the Cardinal leading by just six in the third quarter...Arcega-Whiteside is the first Stanford receiver to earn Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week since Mark Bradford on Oct. 6, 2007 and is the first league receiver to take home the accolade since Washington's John Ross III on Nov. 7, 2016. Also nominated: N'Keal Harry, ASU; Laviska Shenault, COLO; Justin Herbert, ORE; Artavis Pierce, OSU; JT Daniels, USC; Zack Moss, UTAH; Gardner Minshew II, WSU. - Pac-12 Football
09/01/18 - JJ Arcega-Whiteside caught three TD passes from K.J. Costello to overcome a slow night by Heisman Trophy runner-up Bryce Love and No. 13 Stanford opened the season with a 31-10 victory over San Diego State on Friday. Love was held to 29 yards on 18 carries as the Aztecs focused their defense on stopping the man who led all Power 5 backs with 2,118 yards rushing last season. After a slow start in the opener for both teams, the Cardinal made San Diego State pay for that decision. Costello connected with Arcega-Whiteside on a 38-yard score in the second quarter and then on plays from 19 and 80 yards in the third quarter as the Aztecs defensive backs struggled to contend with Stanford's big receiver. Arcega-Whiteside finished with six catches for 226 yards. Costello added a 19-yard TD pass to Colby Parkinson in the fourth quarter to break open what had been a close game for more than a half. Costello finished 21 for 31 for 332 yards and four TDs. - AP College Football
