02/28/18 - 2018 NFL Combine Quotes: On how he projects what kind of player he would be drafting in a prospect like LSU DE Arden Key who has seen fluctuation in production: "That's the hard thing about college scouting. You can go back and we start watching guys sometimes as sophomores and freshmen, right? And we kind of got to take the really good things they do on tape and see, and ask questions to their staff members, to people that are around the player. Why wasn't this consistent? And you've got to really have trusting people on the coaching staff that you can call and really get good information. ‘Hey, he was injured in these four or five games. He had something going on in his life this season.' You've got to really put the puzzle together before you make a selection for a guy like that. I mean, most college players aren't going to be perfect. So, you've really got to take what they do well and kind of zone in on that. That's the reason you're drafting them." - Lions General Manager Bob Quinn
02/27/18 - 2018 NFL Combine: Players Who Need to Interview Well: Arden Key, DE/OLB, LSU...Based only on talent, Key has early first-round potential. However, NFL teams are curious about his state of mind and desire to reach his full potential. He took a leave of absence from the program for personal issues last offseason and there are several questions surrounding his character. - Dane Brugler,
02/27/18 - 2018 NFL Combine: Must-see Prospects per Position: Edge Arden Key, LSU, 6-5, 265, 4.78...Currently ranked 4th among DEs, 37th overall and a 1st-2nd round value...Few players have more riding on their Combine performance than Key, who entered the 2017 season seemingly as a shoo-in for the first round after registering 11 sacks as a true sophomore. Few endured a more disappointing and mysterious year than Key, however, who took a personal leave of absence from the team last February, returned to the team out of shape after offseason shoulder surgery and then opted not to compete in the final three games of his college career due to a broken pinkie, raising plenty of questions about his competitiveness and commitment. After registering as many DNPs (Did Not Play) as he did sacks (four) in 2017, Key needs to remind scouts of the explosiveness and hunger that characterized his first two seasons in Baton Rouge. - Rob Rang,
01/20/18 - NFL Early Entries: College Winners and Losers: Loser -- LSU: Six underclassmen declared for the draft, which is no way to catch Alabama in the SEC West. Edge rusher Arden Key and running back Derrius Guice have first-round quality and were expected to leave, but coach Ed Orgeron also has to deal with losing both starting cornerbacks and two offensive linemen. - Anthony Gimino, The Sports Xchange
01/04/18 - LSU junior Arden Key declared Thursday for the NFL Draft, where he figures to be one of the most intriguing prospects as an edge rusher.'s Rob Rang projected Key as going 14th overall to the Green Bay Packers in a first-round mock draft earlier this week. NFL teams that once relished Key's sacking ability are now curious about his disappointing 2017. Among other things, he took a leave of absence in February for personal reasons, underwent shoulder surgery, then showed up out of shape. After beginning to show glimpses of his sophomore season, when he set an LSU single-season record with 12 sacks, Key missed the final two games of 2017 after undergoing surgery on his pinky finger. wrote: "When healthy and focused, his ability to wreak havoc off the edge as a speed rusher is unparalleled in this class. ... He is consistently able to cross the face of tackles -- whether lining up out of the two point (stand-up) or three-point (hand in the dirt) stance -- or rushing off the left or right side." Key made 33 tackles, including 5.5 for loss and four sacks, in eight games this season. High points were making 1.5 tackles for loss in games against Alabama and Auburn - The Sports Xchange
