Draft Scout Deondre Francois News
02/05/19 - Deondre Francois' uncle said the former Florida State starting quarterback has entered his name in the NCAA transfer database and hopes to play again after "a couple of bad decisions." Putting his name on the list allows other schools to contact Francois, who was dismissed by the Seminoles on Sunday by coach Willie Taggart after a social media post included audio of an alleged argument between the quarterback and his girlfriend. Pat Julmiste, Francois' uncle, told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the audio is old, that his nephew is no longer dating the woman and that no incident occurred last weekend. "I just want people to know that the image painted on Deondre is not him," Julmiste said. "He's a great kid. He made a couple of bad decisions that affected him big time. He's not a womanizer. He's not a woman beater."
In January 2018, Francois was investigated for a domestic dispute with his girlfriend but no arrest was made. A month later, Francois was investigated and local police seized 17 grams of a marijuana/tobacco mixture from his bedroom. That investigation ended with Francois entering a diversion program. Francois was the Seminoles' starting quarterback last season, completing 57.3 percent of his passes for 2,731 yards, 15 touchdowns and 12 interceptions but the Seminoles struggled in Taggart's first year and finished 5-7. - AP College Football
11/18/18 - Florida State has its first victory over a ranked team in almost two years - and a shot at a bowl game. Deondre Francois threw a 74-yard touchdown pass to Tamorrion Terry with 1:49 left and the Seminoles beat No. 22 Boston College 22-21 on Saturday to keep their bowl hopes alive. Francois was 19 of 39 for 322 yards, shaking off two first-half interceptions for his fourth 300-yard game of the season. Cam Akers had 19 carries for 110 yards for the Seminoles (5-6, 3-5 Atlantic Coast Conference). Florida State, which snapped a three-game losing streak, got the ball back with 2:45 left and needed to drive 87 yards to score a touchdown. Francois said he felt confident. "I smell blood," Francois said. "Really, I was ready to go. I just forgot about the first half. You can't focus on the first half and the mistakes you made. That's what we did as an offense. We continued to be resilient and we drove the ball down the field." - AP College Football
11/10/18 - QB Deondre Francois is expected to start for Florida State in Saturday night's matchup against No. 3 Notre Dame. Francis missed last week's loss to North Carolina State due to a concussion but will be good to go against the undefeated Fighting Irish (9-0), the Tallahassee Democrat reported, citing a source. Francois started the first eight games for Florida State. He has thrown for 2,039 yards with 13 touchdowns and six interceptions while completing 60.9 percent of his passes.
10/22/18 - OCT 22 ACC QUARTERBACK OF THE WEEK: Deondre Francois, Florida State, Jr.; Orlando, Fla.,...Francois completed 29 of 40 passes for 353 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions in FSU's 38-17 win over Wake Forest ... It marked his second game of 2018 and the school-record third of his career in which he attempted 40 passes with zero interceptions ... Francois also avoided being sacked for the second time this season ... He now has eight 300-yard passing games in his career and has accounted for 15 of FSU's 20 offensive touchdowns on the season. - ACC Football
09/30/18 - Florida State coach Willie Taggart wasn't expecting Louisville to throw the ball late. Neither was Seminoles defensive back A.J. Westbrook. But Louisville, up three with the ball at the Seminoles 21 and the clock running under 2:00, did just that, and Westbrook, a senior safety, stepped in front to get the interception his team desperately needed. Five plays later, Deondre Francois connected with Nyqwan Murray on a 58-yard touchdown pass with 1:13 left to give the Seminoles a wild 28-24 come-from-behind victory Saturday. For most of the day, it looked like Florida State (3-2, 1-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) would go to 0-3 in conference play for just the second time and continue the tailspin started after blowout losses to Virginia Tech and Syracuse. Instead, they ran to the locker room jubilant with a victory that could reverse their fortunes for the season. "We needed this win to continue the progress that we're trying to do with our football program," Taggart said. "This was huge for our team." Francois completed 16-of-27 passes for 294 yards and a career-best four touchdowns. Murray caught six for 114 yards and two scores. - AP College Football
