  NOV 21 BIG SKY SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Abraham Williams (Weber State),...Weber State's Abraham Williams set a new NCAA record with his fourth 100-yard kickoff return for a score in a season, as he helped the Wildcats defeat Northern Arizona 33-31 on Saturday. The four kickoff return touchdowns are also the most in a season in Big Sky history. Williams finished the day with five returns for 198 yards for an average of 39.6 yards per return. He leads the nation at 45.4 yards per return and is the only player in all of the NCAA (all Divisions) with four kickoff returns for touchdowns this season. The weekly conference honor is the second of the season for Williams. The Big Sky's new single-season record for kickoff return touchdowns in a season doubles the most by any other NCAA player (all divisions) this year.   NOV 14 BIG SKY DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Winston Reid (Weber State),...Weber State's Winston Reid won his first Big Sky Football Defensive Player of the Week honor, after posting a very active day for the Wildcats in their 45-7 win over Idaho State this past Saturday. Reid forced three fumbles, including two strip sacks, and one was returned for a touchdown. He also posted a team-high seven tackles, including four solo tackles. On the season, Reid leads the Wildcats and is sixth in the Big Sky in tackles at 8.3 per game. He is also second in the conference with four forced fumbles.   NOV 14 FEDEX GROUND FCS NATIONAL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Winston Reid, Weber State, LB, Jr., 6-1, 230, West Jordan, Utah,...Reid was at his hard-hitting best in forcing three fumbles - one of which led to a touchdown - as Weber State beat Idaho State 45-7 in the Big Sky. Two of the fumbles came off strip sacks that resulted in 15 yards of losses, and one turned bigger when another Wildcats' player scooped up the football for a 66-yard touchdown return. Reid also posted a team-high seven tackles, including four solos.   OCT 10 BIG SKY SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Abraham Williams (Weber State),...Abraham Williams collected his first Big Sky Football Special Teams Player of the Week award of his career as the Wildcat posted a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to help Weber State defeat Eastern Washington 45-21. The score was tied at 14-14 in the second quarter when Williams returned the kickoff 100 yards to give the Wildcats the lead. The kickoff return for a score was the first of Williams' career and the 12th 100-yard return in Weber State history.   SEPT 12 BIG SKY CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Desmond Williams (Weber State) led a Weber State defense that dominated FBS foe Utah State on the road for a 35-7 victory, as the secondary picked off the Aggies four times to earn the program's first win over an FBS foe since 1993. The defensive back finished the game with six tackles, a pass breakup and a timely interception that he returned for a touchdown to officially kill off all hopes of an Aggie comeback.   Kris Jackson had two of Weber State's five rushing touchdowns, Maxwell Anderson made two interceptions and the Wildcats beat Division II school Western Oregon 41-5 on Thursday night in a season opener for both teams. The Weber State defense forced three turnovers and held Western Oregon to 95 total yards. Jackson, Damon Bankston and Josh Davis each rushed for a touchdown in the first half as Weber State led 24-2. The Wildcats held Western Oregon to 53 yards in the first half. Jackson and Steven Shoats-Thomas added rushing touchdowns in the second half. Shoats-Thomas's scoring run of 13 yards was the only rushing touchdown over six yards. Davis had a team-high 53 yards rushing and Bankston added 42 for Weber State. Garrett Beck also made an interception. Gannon Winker was 15-of-33 passing for 129 yards with three interceptions for Western Oregon.   2022 PRESEASON BIG SKY FOOTBALL ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM: OT Noah Atagi (Weber State),...Weber State football is picked to finish fourth in the 2022 Big Sky preseason polls, released Monday at the Big Sky Kickoff in Spokane. The Wildcats were selected fourth in both the coaches and media polls. After winning four-straight Big Sky titles from 2017-20, the Wildcats are coming off a 6-5 season in 2021. Weber State has five players returning that earned all-conference honors last season.

Head coach Jay Hill returns for his ninth season as head coach. He is WSU's all-time leader in coaching wins with 58 and is 44-17 in Big Sky Conference games. Montana was selected first in both the coaches and media polls. The coaches had Sacramento State in second place with Montana State third. The media picked MSU second and Sacramento State third. In addition, WSU junior offensive lineman Noah Atagi was named to the Big Sky preseason all-conference team. Atagi is a two-time first-team All-Big Sky selection and has played in 32 games during his Wildcat career. - Weber State Football

  2021 ALL-BIG SKY CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM (COACHES): WR Rashid Shaheed, Weber State,...Senior Rashid Shaheed was the only player in the Big Sky to receive all-conference honors at three positions. Shaheed was named to the all-conference first team as a kick returner and a punt returner, and was named to the second team as a wide receiver. He is just the third player in Weber State history to earn first team All-Big Sky honors four times in a career. This season he ranks eighth in the nation in all purpose yards, ninth in kickoff returns and 12th in punt returns.
