12/01/18 - (QB) - Alan Bowman, Fr, 6-2, 210 QB Alan Bowman has no plans to transfer from the school. There was speculation about Bowman's future after the university fired head coach Kliff Kingsbury, who was fired Sunday after the Red Raiders finished 5-7 this season. However, Bowman put to rest any of those worries and said he is eager to work with new head coach Matt Wells, who was hired away from Utah "I'm here for Texas Tech. I love the university, love the team," Bowman said, per the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. "I met with the coaches yesterday, really enjoyed 'em, so I'm excited for it."
11/07/18 - (QB) - Alan Bowman, Fr, 6-2, 210 Texas Tech quarterback Alan Bowman has been released from a hospital again after sustaining a partially collapsed lung for the second time this season. The school said Bowman was released Wednesday and would return to team activities Thursday. The freshman was hospitalized four nights after both injuries. Coach Kliff Kingsbury hasn't said when Bowman can play again. Sophomore Jett Duffey is expected to replace Bowman as the starter again Saturday night against Texas. Kingsbury said Bowman's injury in a 51-46 loss to sixth-ranked Oklahoma on Saturday wasn't as severe the second time. Bowman was injured on a hit late in the first half. He tried to warm up during halftime but didn't go back in the game. The first injury happened when Bowman was sandwiched between a pair of defenders in a 42-34 loss to No. 7 West Virginia on Sept. 29. 11/04/18 - (QB) - Alan Bowman, Fr, 6-2, 210 Texas Tech freshman quarterback Alan Bowman was transported to Lubbock's Covenant Medical to be evaluated for a recurrence of a partially collapsed lung, the team announced. Bowman initially sustained the injury against West Virginia on Sept. 29. He reportedly aggravated the injury after being on the receiving end of a hard hit from Oklahoma linebacker Chris Bolton late in the second quarter. Per head coach Kliff Kingsbury, Bowman was having issues "catching his breath" during warm-ups prior to the start of the second half. In addition, he experienced discomfort in throwing passes with teammates and retreated to the locker room. "(Bowman is being) evaluated for a recurrence of his previous injury (partially collapsed lung) that occurred in the West Virginia game. He will be held overnight for observation," a statement from the team read. Bowman finished 21 of 26 for 227 yards and two touchdowns before exiting the contest. Jett Duffey came on in relief and threw for two touchdowns and ran for another for Texas Tech, which fell to 5-4 overall and 3-3 in Big 12 play after dropping a 51-46 decision to the Sooners. 08/22/18 - (RB) - Da'Leon Ward, Fr, 6-2, 182 RB Da'Leon Ward was arrested Tuesday and charged with felony theft, multiple media outlets reported, although the case with then dismissed, without prejudice, on Wednesday in Lubbock County. The 20-year-old Ward rushed for 428 yards and three touchdowns in 2016, becoming the first true freshman to lead Texas Tech in rushing since Shaud Williams in 1999. Ward redshirted in 2017 because of academic reasons, but is projected to pair with senior Tre King to handle the majority of the Red Raiders' rushing responsibilities.
08/15/18 - (FS) - John Bonney, rSr, 6-0, 205 DB John Bonney, a former starter at Texas, has transferred to Texas Tech, the Red Raiders announced.
Bonney started 15 of the 37 games he played at Texas, making 87 tackles and breaking up 14 passes. He started three times against Texas Tech. "I will forever be grateful to the University of Texas for allowing me to earn my degree and compete as a student-athlete," Bonney said in a statement. "With that said, I'm excited to join the Texas Tech football program. I can't thank Coach (Kliff) Kingsbury and his staff enough for providing me the opportunity to join this program, and I look forward to my first game as a Red Raider." Bonney, a graduate transfer, has one season of eligibility remaining and as a graduate transfer will be eligible for Texas Tech's season opener against Mississippi on Sept. 1. However, Bonney might have trouble earning playing time, as the Red Raiders return 10 starters on defense, including their entire secondary.
07/11/18 - (DE) - Mark Brown, , 6-4, 225 DE Mark Brown has left San Diego State and transferred to Texas Tech, the Red Raiders confirmed on Wednesday after several weeks of rumors that he would make the move.
Brown, who played at Arlington Heights High in Fort Worth, Texas, was a three-start recruit for the Aztecs in 2017 and took a redshirt year as a freshman last season. Although he did not play in a game, Brown made an impression at San Diego State, being named as the program's Defensive Scout Team Player of the Year. Brown will sit out this season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules and have three years of eligibility remaining.
06/30/18 - (RB) - Demarcus Felton, rSr, 5-07, 205 Texas Tech RB DeMarcus Felton, who had planned to transfer, had a change of heart and decided to stay with the school, according to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. Felton was listed on the most current Red Raiders' roster even though he announced earlier this spring he planned to leave the team and transfer elsewhere. Felton, a senior, announced via Twitter in May that he would transfer out of Texas Tech as a graduate transfer. He rushed for 529 yards with four touchdowns over three years. He is expected to play behind Da'Leon Ward and Tre King.

Gordon, a three-year starter for the Owls, announced his decision to transfer to the Big 12 Conference school on Saturday via Twitter. Texas Tech, which went 6-7 under head coach Kliff Kingsbury in 2017, capping the season with a loss in the Birmingham Bowl. The Red Raiders will return 10 starters on defense. The 6-foot-1, 290-pound Gordon, who also visited Kansas and drew interest from a number of programs, had a career-best 34 tackles, including 4.5 for losses in 12 games last season.
