Both North Carolina State and Louisville entered Saturday needing an emotional pick-me-up. Louisville came out fast, while the Wolfpack came out on top. Ryan Finley threw for 316 yards and a career-high four touchdowns as N.C. State cruised to a 52-10 victory over the Cardinals. The Wolfpack (7-3, 4-3) came into Saturday having lost three of their last four. They rolled up 518 yards and 45 straight points on the Atlantic Coast Conference's second-worst defense that went through a coaching change less than a week ago. Louisville interim coach Lorenzo Ward made his debut after Bobby Petrino was fired Sunday. The Cardinals (2-9, 0-8) held N.C. State on the game's first drive, then marched 40 yards to take a 3-0 lead on a Blanton Creque 32-yard field goal. The Wolfpack, however, controlled the game from there. - AP College Football

11/03/18 - (WR) - Jakobi Meyers, rJr, 6-1, 203
Freshman Ricky Person Jr. scored three touchdowns while Jakobi Meyers had a big receiving day to help North Carolina State beat Florida State 47-28 on Saturday. Meyers had nine catches for 125 yards and a score for the Wolfpack (6-2, 3-2 Atlantic Coast Conference), who snapped a two-game skid to become bowl eligible for the fifth straight year. N.C. State scored the first 17 points and never let FSU closer than 10 again in a one-sided show. "We came out and wanted to start fast," Wolfpack coach Dave Doeren said. "I thought we did that."

It helped that the Wolfpack ran the ball well, with Person scoring twice on the ground in his return from injury while Reggie Gallaspy II ran for a career-best 106 yards. FSU's James Blackman threw for a career-high 421 yards and four scores in starting for Deondre Francois, with two going to Tamorrion Terry. But it didn't stop the Seminoles (4-5, 2-5) from ending up with a second straight lopsided loss. "We've got to learn to translate our effort and the way we work the sidelines to the football field," first-year FSU coach Willie Taggart said. "That's something we didn't do." - AP College Football

10/29/18 - (WR) - Stephen Louis, rSr, 6-2, 215
North Carolina State coach Dave Doeren says receiver Stephen Louis will have season-ending surgery due to a high ankle sprain. The graduate student and a team captain was injured against Clemson and didn't play in the weekend loss at Syracuse. Doeren didn't specify Monday when Louis would have the surgery, but said he wouldn't be 100 percent afterward until January or February. Doeren says the team's compliance staff was looking into the possibility of seeking a sixth year of eligibility for Louis from the NCAA, though it's unclear if they will pursue the option. Louis had 12 catches for 154 yards in five games. - AP College Football

Harmon's yardage total was the second-highest in the FBS this season and ranked behind only Torry Holt's 255 yards versus Baylor in 1998 on NC State's all-time single-game list. - ACC Football

10/19/18 - (WR) - Kelvin Harmon, Jr, 6-2, 214
It doesn't matter to North Carolina State's Kelvin Harmon whether he's wide open downfield or tussling with a defensive back as the ball comes his way. Just get the ball close, and he's going to make that catch. The junior has developed into the unquestioned No. 1 receiver atop a deep position group for the No. 16 Wolfpack entering Saturday's trip to No. 3 Clemson. He has the size and strength to make tough catches, the quickness to work his way open for a cleaner look and the willingness to battle through - or over - contact for a contested grab. "It's just having those physical skillsets and using them and believing I can make a catch even though it might look weird to some people," Harmon said. "But I just believe if my hands are free, I can make any catch."

Harmon is coming off the program's first 1,000-yard receiving season since 2003 and is on pace for another for the Wolfpack (5-0, 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), who is off to the program's best start since going 9-0 behind Philip Rivers in 2002. Harmon is a tough matchup for any secondary. He's an NFL prospect with his 6-foot-3, 214-pound frame. He leads the ACC in receiving yards per game (106.8) and has 33 catches for 534 yards with a pair of scores. He had a quiet season opener, but has snagged at least six catches and 94 yards receiving four straight games. The Tigers (6-0, 3-0) know all about Harmon. In last year's 38-31 Clemson win in Raleigh, Harmon had eight catches for 155 yards and a 40-yard touchdown. "He's big," Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables said. "He's strong. He's fast. He's instinctive. He's got great hands, understands leverage and understands how to run routes. - AP College Football

10/08/18 - (WR) - Kelvin Harmon, Jr, 6-2, 214
OCT 8 ACC CO-RECEIVER OF THE WEEK: Kelvin Harmon, NC State, Jr., WR, Palmyra, Fla.,...Harmon now ranks fourth in school history with nine career 100-yard receiving games after making nine catches for 128 yards in the Wolfpack's 28-23 win over Boston College ... Had a 34-yard touchdown reception while playing 70 snaps ... Ranks first in the ACC (eighth in the FBS) with 106.8 receiving yards per game ... Among his nine catches on Saturday, two resulted in third-down conversions, one came on fourth down and another was the 34-yard touchdown. - ACC Football

10/08/18 - (OLB) - Germaine Pratt, rSr, 6-2, 240
OCT 8 ACC LINEBACKER OF THE WEEK: Germaine Pratt, NC State, Gr., LB, High Point, N.C.,...Pratt registered a game-high 13 tackles in Saturday's 28-23 win over Boston College ... Keyed a defense that held BC to just 318 total yards 158 yards less than the Eagles' per game average entering the game ... With BC in the midst of a potential fourth-quarter scoring drive and facing 2nd-and-2 from the State 5-yard line, Pratt stripped the ball to give the Wolfpack possession ... Pratt had registered a nine-yard quarterback sack earlier on that same drive. - ACC Football

10/06/18 - (QB) - Ryan Finley, rSr, 6-3, 212
North Carolina State went from dominating Boston College on both sides of the ball to frittering just about everything away - first momentum, then nearly all of a big second-half lead - in a suddenly close finish. And yet, the 23rd-ranked Wolfpack stayed unbeaten. Reggie Gallaspy ran for a career-best 104 yards and two touchdowns to help N.C. State beat Boston College 28-23, securing its best start in 16 years. There were plenty of problems, from four turnovers to having two kicks blocked. And the Wolfpack abruptly went from cruising with a 28-3 lead to needing Ryan Finley to connect on a late third-down passing play to hang onto the ball and run out the clock.

"Really proud of the resiliency of our guys, the toughness and the fortitude they had to finish," coach Dave Doeren said. "It was sloppy, but it was awesome to find a way to win against a really good team." Finley threw for two touchdowns for the Wolfpack (5-0, 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), including his scoring strike to Kelvin Harmon for the 28-3 lead with 2:57 left in the third. Yet the Eagles - playing without injured running back AJ Dillion, their top player - responded with 20 straight points, the last being a blocked punt return with 3:33 left. - AP College Football
