  12/18/22 - QB Bo NixrSr/2024, Oregon

Bo Nix will play at least one more college football game. What Oregon's quarterback will do after the Holiday Bowl is yet to be determined though. "I wanna know too," Nix said after practice on Friday. "I'm still trying to figure that out myself and we'll decide later." Nix enters the Holiday Bowl matchup against North Carolina completing 71.5% of his passes for 3,388 yards, 27 touchdowns and six interceptions with 504 rushing yards and 14 scores and a touchdown reception for the No. 15 Ducks (9-3). The fourth-year junior is automatically entered in this year's NFL Draft and has until mid-January to decide whether to opt-out of the draft and return to college for his final year of eligibility. "I hope it's as soon as possible," Nix said. "Like you guys, I'm ready to know my decision. It's not an easy process; it's one of the toughest things I've had to do but it's rewarding regardless of what happens."

Nix is one of the first and most prominent cases of a college quarterback who faces this critical career decision in the new age of name, image and likeness compensation, which could surpass his first-year earning potential in the NFL. Early draft projections still vary, but none have Nix expected to be selected in the first three rounds if he were to remain in the draft. This year, NFL rookies earn $750,000 in base salary and the bonus compensation for a player drafted from the first pick in the fourth round to the last pick in the draft ranged from approximately $21,000-$227,000, according to OverTheCap.com. "I think it's tough because in my situation you can hear all different, like all sorts of things from where you could get drafted," Nix said. "And I think that's what kind of makes it not confusing, but it makes you have a lot of decisions because you don't know when you're going to be drafted. And so then you got to compare your situation to college and you know, the value in the two decisions and there's value in both. I don't think I can make a bad decision." - The Oregonian
