Iowa State's kicking game got a much-needed pick-me-up Monday. Andrew Mevis is joining the program as a graduate transfer. The statistic that sticks out the most, in respect to the Cyclones' need, is that 82 of his 139 kickoffs weren't returned. That's been a problem with the Cyclones, since Eddie Ogamba was injured early in the season. Mevis is a do-everything kicker whose three-season Fordham statistics include making 27 of 38 field-goal attempts, including a 54-yarder, and averaging 39.8 yards on 216 punts. That included 72 that landed inside the 20-yard line. - Des Moines Register
