The heart of Colorado's defense stopped on Saturday. Late in the first half of the Buffaloes' 38-21 loss to Utah at Folsom Field, inside linebacker Nate Landman went down with an injury, and he will miss the rest of the season. It was, perhaps, the last time Landman will play for the Buffaloes (4-1, 3-1 Pac-12). Head coach Karl Dorrell said Landman has "an ankle injury, a lower leg injury," and added, "I think he's going to have an MRI, but he's down for at least the rest of the season this fall." Arguably the best player on the team, Landman was chasing Utah tight end Cole Fotheringham on a passing play late in the first half and went down without any contact.

As trainers tended to him, he was in noticeable pain and grabbing onto one trainer. Landman spent the second half on the sidelines in a walking boot on his right leg and moving around on a scooter. "Any one of our brothers, if they went down, it hurts us," receiver Brenden Rice said. "Everyone, you see the locker room was in shock." A senior from Danville, Calif., Landman is one of the leaders of the team and one of the best linebackers in the country. - Daily Camera
