Tarleton was selected to repeat as the Lone Star Conference football champions according to the 2019 LSC preseason poll announced Monday. The league's preseason poll reflects the opinions of LSC head coaches and sports information directors, plus various media representatives from throughout the region. TSU earned first place votes on 19 of the 25 ballots for 217 total points.

The Texans, who went undefeated in the regular season to win the LSC title before falling in the NCAA Division II quarterfinals, were 12-1 overall and 8-0 in league play in 2018. Midwestern State received two first-place nods to finish second with 185 points following an 8-2 season last year. Texas A&M-Commerce ranked third with 169 points and one top vote in front of Eastern New Mexico (130) and Angelo State (122 with a pair of first-place nods). West Texas A&M (119), Texas A&M-Kingsville (88), UT Permian Basin (67 with one first-place vote) and Western New Mexico (28) rounded out the poll. - Lone Star Conference Football
