  07/14/20 - WR DEriq KingrSr/2022, Miami

Miami Hurricanes redshirt senior D'Eriq King is one of 30 quarterbacks named to the watch list for the Davey O'Brien Award - presented annually to the nation's best college quarterback. King transferred to UM from Houston this offseason for his final year of eligibility. With the Cougars, King accounted for 78 total touchdowns - 50 passing and 28 rushing - 4,295 passing yards and 1,421 rushing yards in 22 starts. He did most of his damage in 2018 as a junior, when he set the American Athletic Conference (AAC) record for "touchdowns responsible for" with 50. That year, he was a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award and Earl Campbell Award. King maintained his eligibility for a fifth season after only playing in four games in 2019. Miami's two previous Heisman Trophy winners are the only two Hurricanes to win the O'Brien Award: Vinny Testaverde (1986) and Gino Torretta (1992). - Sun Sentinel
