09/18/17 - SEPT 18 AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE HONOR ROLL: Kyle Allen, Jr., QB, Houston, Scottsdale, Ariz.,...Completed 31 of 33 passes for 309 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-3 win against Rice. - American Athletic Conference Football
09/17/17 - Kyle Allen threw for two touchdowns as Houston ran up a big first-half lead and held it to beat Rice 38-3 on Saturday night. Allen threw to Duke Catalon for a 10-yard score and Caden Novikoff kicked a 20-yard field goal for a 10-0 Houston lead with 2:29 to go in the first quarter. The Cougars (2-0) went on to score on their next four drives, on short-yardage runs by Dillon Burden and Catalon, on a 7-yard Allen pass to John Leday and on a 3-yard run by Mulbah Car. That gave the Cougars a 38-0 lead at the break. Allen, who finished with 309 yards passing, left the field in the third quarter and was replaced by backup Kyle Postma for the remainder of the game. Will Harrison scored Rice's only points, a 31-yard field goal with 2:47 left in the game. Jackson Tyner had 84 yards passing for the Owls (1-2). - AP College Football
09/10/17 - Houston made its regular-season debut a winning one, beating Arizona 19-16 at Arizona Stadium in Tucson, Ariz., on Saturday night. The Cougars' scheduled season opener against Texas-San Antonio was postponed last week because of Hurricane Harvey. Junior quarterback Kyle Allen had his way with the short pass, connecting on 25 of 32 passes for 225 yards and one touchdown. He threw two interceptions. Linell Bonner was his favorite target, getting nine catches for 59 yards and a touchdown. Dillon Birden's 3-yard touchdown late in the first half gave the Cougars a 17-10 lead. The Cougars had just enough, stuffing an Arizona drive with 3:49 left in the fourth quarter when junior safety Garrett Davis intercepted a Khalil Tate pass. Arizona had a last-ditch possession with less than three minutes left but Arizona failed to get a first down behind quarterback Brandon Dawkins, who started the game, was later replaced by Tate and was brought back for the final drive. - The Sports Xchange
01/07/16 - Kyle Allen didn't go far after leaving Texas A&M. The highly touted quarterback is enrolling at Houston, where the 14th-ranked Cougars just wrapped up a 13-1 season under first-year coach Tom Herman. Allen spent two seasons with the Aggies, who have also seen quarterback Kyler Murray transfer and offensive coordinator Jake Spavital depart in recent weeks. Allen will sit out next year under NCAA transfer rules but will have two seasons of eligibility remaining beginning in 2017. Allen started the first seven games this past season before struggling with interceptions and was benched after a loss at Mississippi. Murray started the next three games and led the Aggies to two wins, but Allen got his job back for Texas A&M's final two games. With Allen leaving and Murray set to enroll at Oklahoma, Jake Hubenak started at quarterback as the Aggies lost the Music City Bowl 27-21 to Louisville last month. Allen threw for 2,210 yards with 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions last season. The native of Scottsdale, Arizona, became just the eighth quarterback in Texas A&M history to pass for 2,000 yards and 15 touchdowns in a season. - AP Sports
12/12/15 - Texas A&M quarterback Kyle Allen is transferring from the school immediately. The Aggies granted his release on Thursday. The school didn't say where Allen would be going. The sophomore appeared in 10 games for the Aggies this season and threw for 2,210 yards with 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Allen won the starting job out of camp but was benched in favor of freshman Kyler Murray after throwing three interceptions, all of which were returned for touchdowns, in a loss to Alabama in October. Allen received only sporadic playing time after he was benched. He played in 10 games as a freshman last season after Kenny Hill was benched after his struggles. Overall, Allen went 9-5 in 14 career starts. - AP Sports
