  Jonathan Murphy broke free and sprinted 61 yards in the fourth quarter for a touchdown to seal Kennesaw State's 28-21 victory over Wofford in the first round of the FCS playoffs on Saturday. The Owls advance to play at No. 3 seed Weber State (9-3) on Dec. 7. Murphy, replacing Tommy Bryant who was injured early in the second quarter, rushed for three touchdowns in the final 17 minutes. Murphy tied the game at 14-14 when he crashed in from the 1 with 1:24 remaining in the third quarter. Wofford was driving on the following series when Bryson Armstrong forced a fumble that Cincere Mason scooped up, returning it 36 yards to Wofford's 20.

Murphy carried three straight times to get to the 1-yard line where the Owls had a first down. Murphy followed his center for three consecutive plays and came up short before stepping to his left and pushing across for a 21-14 advantage. Kennesaw State (11-2), representing the Big South, took a 28-14 lead after Murphy's 61-yard TD sprint with 4:02 remaining. Murphy had 23 carries for 206 yards.   Kennesaw State quarterback Tommy Bryant ran for career highs of 154 yards and four touchdowns and the Owls breezed to a 42-14 victory over Gardner-Webb on Saturday. Bryant, who was just 3-of-6 passing for 28 yards, had TD runs of 15, 1, 1 and 3 yards for the Owls (10-2, 5-1 Big South Conference), who clinched second place in the conference behind Monmouth. Kennesaw State grabbed a 7-0 lead on Bryant's first TD run after the Owls took over at the Gardner-Webb 31-yard line following a Cincere Mason interception on the Bulldogs' first play from scrimmage. The Bulldogs (3-9, 1-5) pulled even at 7 when Kalen Whitlow connected with Izaiah Gathings for a 15-yard score with 5:14 left in the first quarter, but Bryant's second TD run was the only score of the second period and gave the Owls a 14-7 halftime lead.

Kennesaw State took control in the third quarter, using Bryant's third scoring run and Jalen Jackson's 15-yard TD return after Adesola Abisoye blocked Jack Pawloski's punt, for a 28-7 advantage. Bryant's final TD run and Bronson Rechsteiner's 65-yard scoring run stretched the Owls' lead to 42-7 before Whitlow capped the scoring with a 28-yard strike to Devron Harper. Rechsteiner finished with 128 yards on just 10 carries for Kennesaw State. The Owls outgained Gardner-Webb 321 to 39 on the ground.   Tommy Bryant had a 67-yard scoring strike to Caleb O'Neal and Bryant added 100 yards and a touchdown on the ground as Kennesaw State rolled to a 50-7 victory over Hampton on Saturday. Kennesaw State (9-2, 4-1 Big South Conference) used three first-quarter scoring runs to grab a 21-0 lead. The Owls added Bryant's TD toss and a field goal by Nathan Robertson to stretch their lead to 31-0 at halftime. Kyle Glover and Kevin Ficklin added 1-yard TD runs in the third quarter to stretch the Owls' lead to 43-0 before Deondre Francois hit James Stanley for a 14-yard score to get Hampton (5-6, 1-4) on the scoreboard.

Kennesaw State capped the scoring with Glover's 2-yard TD run in the fourth quarter. Bryant completed just two passes in five attempts, connecting with Shaquil Terry for a 66-yard gain on his second completion. Kennesaw State had 494 yards of offense, including 361 on the ground. The Owls have won eight straight conference games on the road. Hampton managed only 126 yards of offense.   NOV 11 BIG SOUTH CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kennesaw State quarterback Tommy Bryant (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) came off the bench to lead the Owls to a 38-35 comeback win at Campbell. He rushed for a team-high 105 yards and three touchdowns, and added two scores through the air as he turned a 21-10 deficit into an eventual 31-21 Kennesaw State advantage that KSU never relinquished. Bryant tallied TD runs of 8, 2, and 1 yard, and connected on TD throws of 20 and 26 yards.   Tommy Bryant passed for two touchdowns, ran for three more scores and Kennesaw State beat Campbell 38-35 on Saturday for its seventh straight conference road victory. Bryanthad a 2-yard scoring run and a 26-yard TD connection with Shaquil Terry, 61 seconds apart, to give Kennesaw State a 31-21 lead late in the third quarter. Bryson Armstrong's interception led to the second score. Bryant carried it 27 times for 105 yards and completed 5 of 7 passes for 91 yards. Terry had all five receptions and two scores. Kennesaw State (8-2, 3-1 Big South) entered leading the country in rushing, averaging 360.9 yards per game including an FCS-best 39 rushing touchdowns. Bryant's TD passes went to Jalen Jackson for 28 yards, Shaquil Terry for 25 yards and Isaac Foster for 23 yards. The Owls (6-1, 2-0 Big South Conference) had no turnovers while the Blue Hose (0-7, 0-3) had four. Kennesaw State ran 61 times for 275 yards and four TDs with 12 players taking at least one carry.
