He ranked fourth in the conference, averaging 9.2 tackl es per game and finishing the year with 92 tackles, despite missing one game due to an injury. He recorded 11.0 tackles for loss, including 2.5 sacks while also forcing a fumble. He led the Spiders with three interceptions, returning one against Towson f or a touchdown. SEPT 27 CAA FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Tyler Dressler, Gr., LB, Richmond (Leesburg, Va./Flint Hill),...Dressler recorded a team-high 12 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss and a quarterback sack in Richmond's 21-10 setback at ACC foe Virginia Tech. The Spiders' defense limited the Hokies to 318 yards, including just 106 on the ground, and only gave up 14 points to the VT offense. He becomes the first Spider linebacker to earn F irst Team honors since Omar Howard in 2016. Dressler was tied for the team lead with 104 tackles and led the CAA in tackles per game at 9.5, a half of a tackle more than any other player. He currently ranks 25th in the nation in tackles per game. He comb ined with Wheeler to become the first Spider duo to each record 100 tackles in a season since Eric McBride and Collin McConaghy in 2007.Dressler posted four games of 10 or more tackles this season, none more impressive than a career-high 20-tackle performance in the Spiders' win at No. 18 Maine. His 20 tackles are the most for any player in the NCAA FCS this season and the most for a CAA player in a single game since 2017 (Nate Hatalsky, UAlbany, 21).
