Th e sophomore defensive back also leads the conference with 14 passes defended while totaling 31 tackles in ten games. The Bowie State University football team received official notification late Sunday (11/17) evening after hearing the Bulldogs' named announced for a berth into the NCAA Division II playoffs for the third consecutive season. The Bulldogs (11-0) will host the Eagles of Carson-Newman University (8-2) on Saturday (November 23). This will mark the third straight season Bowie State will serve as host. "It's a great feeling winning the conference championship this year against a tough Fayetteville State progr am ....Our guys did an outstanding job this year handling adversity and staying focused on winning each day at practice", said Bowie State head coach Damon Wilson. Wilson went on to say, "We have put ourselves in position and earned another home game. Th is is great for the university and the Bowie community and we are looking forward to everyone coming to support on Saturday. We are looking forward to the challenge this week versus Carson-Newman University. They have a very talented group and we must be physical up front on both sides of the ball." Bowie State defeated West Alabama last season (41-35) before losing to the eventual national champions of Valdosta State (66-16). The top seed Valdosta State (10-0) will have a first-round bye. In other matc hups, #2 Lenoir-Rhyne (11-0) will host Miles (8-2) and #4 Wingate (10-1) will host West Florida (7-2). - CIAA Football
