Arkansas coach Sam Pittman said Friday after the Razorbacks' first workout of the preseason that tight end Hudson Henry did not finish the practice. Henry, entering his redshirt junior season at Arkansas, was transparent Sunday as to why. He said he suff ers from asthma and was having a difficult time breathing in the humid August heat. "That first day I was struggling a lot with some breathing problems," Henry said. "That was kind of a challenge." In the Razorbacks' two practices since, he has had no is sues. Henry said he was able to finish the second and third practices and contribute. It was the kind of response tight ends coach Dowell Loggains expected. A quarterback at Arkansas from 2000-04, Loggains is in his second season as an assistant under Pi ttman. He spent 2015-20 as an offensive coordinator with three NFL franchises. "(I saw the) same response I'd expect from any of our tight ends, and that's to come in and do your job," Loggains said. "Football is hard, and everything is earned. We had an issue physically with him that he has overcome and done a nice job. I can honestly tell you this, and this isn't coach talk or me trying to sit up here and trying to make something ... This kid honestly cares about the team more than himself. "Tha t doesn't happen much in this world in this time in the age of instant gratification on Twitter and Instagram and Facebook and all that stuff. He legitimately wants to do what is best for the team, be a good teammate and serve in any role he can find tha t helps the football team." The former No. 1 tight end in his recruiting class, Henry to this point has not had the career many, including himself, thought he would have. He has dealt with adversity on numerous occasions and battled various injuries. - N orthwest Arkansas Times

There was a collision during Saturday's football scrimmage that involved Arkansas hard-hitting safety Jalen Catalon, which is in no way surprising. The difference in this one was tight end Hudson Henry (6-5, 255) delivered the brunt of the impact instead of being the recipient. "We don't want to get bullied. We want to be the bully," Henry said of the mindset of Arkansas' tight ends. "I made a great play on Jalen. We both had a pretty big collision on the sideline." Catalon, who is still delivering his fair share of big hits, is impressed with Henry's physical and mental growth. "He has definitely got a lot more physical," Catalon said. "You can tell he has started to gain a lot more confidence and is starting to realize his potential and what he has t o offer for the offense and to give to the offense. "He is having a really good spring so far. He is having less (missed assignments) and you can tell he is flowing fast and moving fast. You can tell he knows most of what is going on. He has definitely g otten stronger. I learned that the hard way. He has definitely gotten a little bit stronger." Henry, the younger brother of both former Arkansas All-American tight end Hunter Henry and current Razorbacks linebacker Hayden Henry, has battled injuries thro ughout first two years in Fayetteville. He played in three games and a total of 52 snaps as a true freshman, and finished with 3 catches for 15 yards. - Northwest Arkansas Times

Following an Arkansas touchdown that put the Razorbacks ahead 21-7 in the third quarter Saturday at then-No. 16 Mississippi State, Sam Pittman greeted players with high-fives and words of encouragement as they jogged to the sideline. Moments later, Pittm an delivered a brief message in front of his offensive linemen. As he turned away from the group, tight end Hudson Henry gave his head coach a pat on the back. Holding one end of his mask in his left hand, Pittman then appeared to hype up the redshirt fr eshman before giving him a one-armed hug.The youngest of three brothers who have played or are playing for the Razorbacks, Henry was on the receiving end of the score that put Arkansas ahead by two touchdowns. He was congratulated by countless tea mmates, including fellow Little Rock native Luke Jones, and was all smiles on the sideline after making his first significant mark with the Razorbacks. "You know, I think he's just getting better each week," Pittman said Monday when asked about Henry's p rogress. "It's awful nice seeing another Henry get in the end zone for the Razorbacks." "You know, he's just a freshman - a redshirt freshman," Pittman said. "I think he's going to be a really, really good player for us and I think he's doing a nice job. I'm proud of him." - Northwest Arkansas Times

Arkansas coach Sam Pittman is certain about one thing when it comes to his tight ends: He doesn't have a clue who will start in Week 1 against Georgia. Following the departures of players such as Cheyenne O'Grady, Grayson Gunter and Chase Harrell, the Ra zorbacks are a young and largely inexperienced bunch at the position entering 2020. Redshirt freshman Hudson Henry figures to be the starter if healthy, but even he has not been full-go for all of Arkansas' preseason practices through two weeks. Aside fr om Henry, the room is a bit of a mystery. And the starting job is very much up for grabs."To be honest with you, we're trying to find two really good tight ends," Pittman said Friday after the team's first scrimmage of the fall. "If we can get thr ee and four, that'd be great. I'll know a little bit more (about a potential starter) after I watch this film." The tight ends group includes a senior in Blake Kern, but the Lamar native does not have a catch to his name since arriving on campus in 2016. And after him sit four players - Nathan Bax, Collin Sutherland, Jonas Higson, Blayne Toll - in their first season with the program. - Northwest Arkansas Times
