Former University of Iowa cornerback Julius Brents announced Tuesday night on Twitter that he is transferring to Kansas State. Brents was a four-star recruit from Indianapolis who played 11 games as a true freshman for the Hawkeyes in 2018 but just one in 2019 because of injury. He redshirted. Brents played extensively in Iowa's opener this past season against Purdue but was relegated to backup and special teams duties after that. He entered the NCAA's transfer portal in early November. - The Gazette

While Iowa football has dealt with multiple transfer-portal departures this season, the latest entry is the first who had significant playing time during his Hawkeye tenure. Redshirt sophomore defensive back Julius Brents entered the transfer portal Monday, a source confirmed to HawkCentral. He is the fifth Iowa player to do so since the 2020 season began, joining running back Shadrick Byrd, linebacker Yahweh Jeudy, wide receiver Calvin Lockett and defensive back Daraun McKinney. But unlike the previous four, Brents had worked his way into the two-deep at times in Iowa City. The 6-foot-2 cornerback from Indianapolis was in the starting lineup for a five-game stretch as a true freshman in 2018, cracking Iowa's first-team defense against Minnesota, Indiana, Maryland, Penn State and Purdue. Four of those were road games. - Iowa City Press-Citizen

Iowa defensive back Julius Brents has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, becoming the fifth Hawkeye to enter the portal since the start of the 2020 season. The Des Moines Register first reported Brents' decision. Brents joins running back Shadrick Byrd, linebacker Yahweh Juedy, wide receiver Calvin Lockett, and defensive back Daraun McKinney as Iowa players that have entered the portal this season. Unlike the other four, Brents has seen significant playing time over the course of his Hawkeye career. The redshirt sophomore worked his way into the starting lineup as a true freshman in 2018, starting at corner for a five-game stretch. Brents has not started a game this season, and only sees the field in a reserve roll or on special teams. - UI The Daily Iowan
