Roe Wilkins, Arizona State, Player News

Last year, it was Casey Tucker from Stanford and Roy Hemsley from USC joining Arizona State football as transfers. This year, Roe Wilkins from Rice and Cody Shear from Oregon are new to the Sun Devils, filling immediate needs and those over the next few season. Wilkins (6-4, 273) is a grad transfer with the potential to impact the defensive line in his single season at ASU like Tucker did in 2018 on the offensive line.

For Wilkins, who had some individual success at Rice, the move was predicated on finding a place where he could experience more team success. ASU won more games last season (7) than Rice from 2016-18 (6). "I wanted to win," Wilkins said after practice No. 1 Wednesday night. "I was tired of the losing culture. Those guys are getting it turned around over there, but I have one year left and they've got a process (to improve). I wish them them the best, I really do. That team will always be in my heart, but I'm here to win and put myself in position to be great." - Arizona Republic
