That comes after he missed the 2021 season at ASU with a triceps injury which occurred two weeks before the season opened.   A season ago, the Louisville run defense finished a pedestrian 76th in the FBS, surrendering 157.7 yards a game. To slow down opposing rushers, the Cardinals have dipped into the transfer portal to land former Arizona State nose guard Lole. Before missing all of last season with a triceps injury, the 6-foot-3, 324-pound Lole accumulated 122 tackles, 11 sacks and 20 tackles for loss in two-and-a-half seasons with the Sun Devils. - Herald Leader

Even when Arizona State defensive tackle Jermayne Lole put his name in the NCAA transfer portal, there was still some hope he might remain to the Sun Devils program because he hadn't closed the door on that possibility. But Lole is indeed moving on after committing to Louisville Friday after a visit to the school. That announcement came before other trips he had planned to Florida, Texas Tech, and Pac-12 foe Oregon.

Lole sat out last season, after sustaining a torn triceps injury in late August. That injury eventually required surgery. He participated in some spring drills on a limited basis did not partake in any contact activity. Lole, a 6-foot-3, 305-pounder, was a three-year starter for the Sun Devils before that injury and was regarded as the No. 2 ranked available prospect in the transfer portal by 247Sports. Lole, who came to ASU from Long Beach Poly (Calif.) High School, recorded 123 tackles, 20 of which were for loss, and 11 sacks in his three years at ASU. - Arizona Republic

  05/22/22 - DT Jermayne LolerSr/2025, Louisville, 6-2, 310 (DS#55 DT) + More +

You'll be hard pressed to find a college football coach who will turn down the addition of a 300-pound defensive lineman with Division I experience, especially when said player had more solo tackles during the COVID-shortened 2020 season than most returning members of a team's defensive line amassed during a full 2021 campaign. In short: Welcome to Louisville, Jermayne Lole. The 6-foot-2, 305-pound Arizona State transfer announced his commitment to the Cardinals on Friday, just a week after the redshirt senior's official visit to the 502.

Lole's quick turnaround in announcing his commitment speaks volumes of his time with Scott Satterfield and members of the Cardinals' staff, during which he tweeted, "It's different different out here." The former Sun Devil was scheduled to visit Florida on Friday, Texas Tech on May 27 and Oregon on June 3. What did Jermayne Lole do at Arizona State? A three-star prospect out of high school, Lole entered the transfer portal in late April after three seasons with Arizona State. - Courier Journal

Arizona State's season opener is three weeks away but the Sun Devils have already suffered a major setback with senior defensive tackle Jermayne Lole sidelined with a triceps injury that will require surgery and is likely season ending. After today's practice, ASU coach Herm Edwards confirmed the injury which occurred during Monday's practice. Lole has been at practice as a spectator the last two days with his right arm in a sling. "It doesn't look good," the coach said. The 6-foot-2, 305-pounder would have been a four-year starter, having earned a spot in 2018 as a true freshman. He was an All-Pac 12 honorable mention last season with 24 total tackles including five for a loss and 1.5 sacks and the four-game 2020 season. In his career, Lole had registered 147 tackles in 32 games. Much was expected of Lole this season. He was a first-team All-preseason Pac-12 pick by the media. - Arizona Republic

One player expecting to have a prominent role on the defense is senior 3-technique tackle Jermayne Lole. The 6-foot-2, 305-pounder has been a starter since arriving as a freshman in 2018 and he is being lauded as an NFL draft prospect. But Lole is looking to make up for some lost time after missing all of spring practice after the unexpected deaths of his father and an older brother, both from COVID-19.

Both were staunch supporters of Jermayne's and line coach Robert Rodriguez said he had already talked to them about Jermayne coming back for his senior year to increase his draft stock. "They made that decision as a family, and called me and told me 'Coach, we decided we want one more year with you and (defensive coordinator) Antonio Pierce, so we were a part of that decision and I'm grateful to his father, his brother, his mother and all of them that they believed in me, and (head coach) Herm (Edwards) and (special adviser to the head coach) Marvin (Lewis), all of us to do right by him. So I told him that, that it means something to me personally." - Arizona Republic
