  2022 PRESEASON MISSOURI VALLEY FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM (COACHES/MEDIA): DB Benny Saap III, UNI,...Last season, he was named to Phil Steele's FCS All-MFVC Second Team Defense. He tallied 52 tackles in 12 games, including a season-high nine against North Dakota State last season. He was third in the conference with four interceptions. In his first season with the Panthers in the spring of 2021, he was fifth on the team with 33 tackles and tallied one interception, one fumble recovery and two pass break ups. He was named to the MVFC Newcomer Team. A transfer from Minnesota, Sapp attended Eden Prairie High School in Eden Prairie, Minnesota and is the son of Benny Sapp Jr. and Erica Sapp. His father, currently an assistant coach at UNI, played collegiately for the Panthers and then played in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs (2004-07), Minnesota Vikings (2008-09 and 2011) and Miami Dolphins (2010-11). - Northern Iowa Football

  2021 ALL-MISSOURI VALLEY FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM (COACHES): DB - Benny Sapp III, UNI,... Sapp III, Northern Iowa, 6-1, 205 pounds, Jr., Fort Lauderdale (Florida) Minnesota,...Sapp was the UNI leader in interceptions with four on the year. He broke up another three passes.   SEPT 20 MISSOURI VALLEY NOTABLE PERFORMANCE: DB Benny Sapp III, UNI -- Sapp grabbed an individual game high of two interceptions to help the Panthers take down St. Thomas, 44-3.   Theo Day threw for two touchdowns, Vance McShane ran for two and Northern Iowa defeated Sacramento State 34-16 on Saturday night. Day had both of his touchdown passes in the third quarter when the Panthers scored four touchdowns to erase a 9-7 halftime deficit. Two of those touchdowns came after turnovers. Overall the Hornets (1-1) had six giveaways. Spencer Cuvelier led the Panthers with 15 total tackles and two fumble recoveries. Korby Sander, Benny Sapp III, and Omar Brown each finished with an interception.

Tyler Hoosman's 1-yard plunge gave Northern Iowa a 14-9 lead. Following a turnover, McShane got his second touchdown. Then Day hit Isaiah Weston for a 34-yard score and Quan Hampton for a 9-yarder, after yet another turnover. Day threw for 120 yards, with Weston accounting for 92. Sacramento State (0-2) piled up 455 yards with Asher O'Hara going 32 of 53 for 338 yards but he had no TDs and three interceptions. He was also the Hornets' leading rusher with 55 yards.
