 Jordyn Peters, Auburn, Player News

  05/04/21 - FS Jordyn PetersSr/2021, Auburn, 6-1, 202 (DS#19 FS) + More +

Jordyn Peters received an early birthday gift. After sitting at home with his mom for three days and watching his teammates get drafted, Jordyn Peters made his own plans for the future and signed as an undrafted free agent with the New York Jets hours before his birthday. He will be joining Auburn teammate safety Jamien Sherwood. The former Auburn player was a starting safety his senior year and a contributing defensive back all four years he was there. He finished with 101 career tackles, and he made 42 of them his final year. His best game was his final game of his career, the Citrus Bowl against Northwestern, when he made six tackles and had two pass breakups. Peters described his departure from Auburn as "bittersweet" because he wished he could have made more of an impact on defense, but he was hampered by injuries. Peters was most known for his special teams contributions, though. While he was at Auburn, he blocked four punts, including three in his sophomore season. - Birmingham News

4 Punts have been blocked by Auburn S Jordyn Peters during his college career. Peters posted his fourth blocked punt in the Tigers' 30-28 victory over Arkansas on Saturday. With the Razorbacks punting from their 4-yard line, Peters blocked the ball off the foot of George Caratan, and LB Barton Lester recovered in the end zone as Auburn took a 7-0 lead with 4:32 left in the first quarter. Peters' other three blocked punts came during the 2018 season and included one against Arkansas. - Birmingham News

Auburn senior defensive back Jordyn Peters once again blocked a punt to help the Tigers score a touchdown against Arkansas. Peters blocked George Caratan's punt in the end zone and the ball was recovered by Barton Lester to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead with 4:32 left in the first quarter. When Auburn beat Arkansas 34-3 in 2018, Peters blocked a punt by Reid Bauer that gave the Tigers possession at the Razorbacks 9 and set up a 4-yard touchdown run by quarterback Phillip Stidham that put Auburn ahead 17-0 in the second quarter. "He's really like a special teams leader," Auburn Coach Gus Malzahn said of Peters. "He done a super job his whole career." Peters now had four career blocked punts. In addition to his two blocks against Arkansas, he also had blocks against Alabama State and Liberty in 2018. - Northwest Arkansas Times
