University of Arkansas slot receiver De'Vion Warren, who missed the final three games after tearing an anterior cruciate ligament in his knee at Florida on Nov. 14, said the first two days of practice went well. Not that recovering from such a major injury in nine months has been a breeze. "Coming back from an ACL injury, it's not easy," Warren said Saturday. "It takes a lot of reps, a lot of recovery, a lot of treatment. Just feeling out the process of being able to get back to your 100% self." Warren, who said he has put his trust in the training and strength and conditioning staff, said the toughest part of the rehabilitation process has been the daily grind. "Just taking the steps to feel better, and get better and be able to run, walk sometimes - even jump," he said. "It's just that mental aspect of every day you're not who you used to be. You've got to get back to your normal day abilities." - Northwest Arkansas Times

Senior receiver De'Vion Warren, who suffered a season-ending knee injury at Florida on Nov. 14, has been cleared to practice today. Warren tore an anterior cruciate ligament returning a kickoff. "De'Vion Warren is a guy who's healthy," Arkansas Coach Sam Pittman said. "He's looked good. I think we're going to watch his rep take just on that injury that he had." Warren had career-highs of 15 catches for 278 yards and 3 touchdowns in 7 games before his injury. He also had 4 carries for 35 yards and 6 kickoff returns for 120 yards. "He came in and worked hard just coming off that injury that he had last season," receiver Treylon Burks said. "You can tell that he wants it more being his last year. "He's gotten bigger. He looks stronger and he looks faster." - Northwest Arkansas Times

The Razorbacks also added to their pool of seniors who plan to return in 2021, thanks to the extra year of eligibility being granted by the NCAA. Receivers De'Vion Warren and T.J. Hammonds, and tight end Blake Kern revealed on Monday their plans for returning next season. Their announcements bring the number of current seniors who have committed to returning next season to six. The returning seniors do not count against the maximum of 85 scholarships allowed by the NCAA. Linebacker Grant Morgan, and offensive linemen Myron Cunningham and Ty Clary previously had announced their intentions of putting in another year for the Razorbacks.

"We're still working on a guy or two, so we'll see how good of recruiters we are," Pittman said prior to the announcements by Kern and Hammonds. Cunningham, a 10-game starter at left tackle, said his NFL Draft advisory response pegged him for a mid- to late-round selection for the upcoming draft, so he wanted to return to have a run at improving his stock. "I think it just says the culture we've started to build here is a good one," Cunningham said. "The fact everyone is deciding to come back is just a positive aspect and it's showing." - Northwest Arkansas Times

  11/21/20 - WR DeVion WarrenrSr/2022, Arkansas, 5-11, 182 (DS#99 WR) + More +

Arkansas receiver De'Vion Warren will miss the remainder of the season with an ACL injury. Warren was injured while returning a kickoff during the fourth quarter of the Razorbacks' 63-35 loss at No. 6 Florida on Saturday. "I hate it for him, but he has a good attitude about it," Arkansas coach Sam Pittman said Monday. "I feel terrible it happened." Warren, a senior who is eligible to return in 2021, was in the midst of a breakout season on offense. He had 15 catches for 278 yards and three touchdowns. On Oct. 10 at Auburn, Warren had five catches for 95 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught a touchdown pass during the Razorbacks' victory at Mississippi State the week before. With Warren out of the lineup, Pittman said receivers Trey Knox and Tyson Morris will be called on to play more. Morris has backed up Warren this season and has five receptions for 47 yards, including a 1-yard touchdown catch at Texas A&M. - Northwest Arkansas Times

  10/15/20 - WR DeVion WarrenrSr/2022, Arkansas, 5-11, 182 (DS#99 WR) + More +

University of Arkansas senior wide receiver De'Vion Warren doubled his career touchdown catch total for the second consecutive game. Warren, starting at Auburn on Saturday in place of injured Treylon Burks, had touchdown receptions of 7 and 30 yards from Feleipe Franks in the Razorbacks' 30-28 loss to the Tigers. Those scores improved Warren's career touchdown total from two to four. He finished the game with five catches for 95 yards. "Obviously he got open and held on to the football," Arkansas Coach Sam Pittman said. "He's a good player. Obviously we'd like to get Burks back at some point as soon as we can, but De'Vion sure has done a nice job since he got his opportunity."

The previous week in a 21-14 victory at Mississippi State, Warren had a 19-yard touchdown catch from Franks. His first career touchdown reception was in 2018 against Alabama on a 17-yard pass from Ty Storey. Warren has 10 catches for 223 yards and a team-high 3 touchdowns this season. The previous three seasons he had 8 catches for 38 yards. Warren is the first Razorback to have two touchdown receptions in a game since 2018 when tight end Cheyenne O'Grady had two against Alabama. - Northwest Arkansas Times

  10/06/20 - WR DeVion WarrenrSr/2022, Arkansas, 5-11, 182 (DS#99 WR) + More +

De'Vion Warren is known primarily for his kickoff returning skills - including a 100-yard touchdown against Auburn in 2017 - but against Mississippi State the senior had the best game of his career as a receiver. Warren had career-highs of four receptions for 100 yards. He had a career-long 53-yard reception and caught a 19-yard touchdown pass. It was his first touchdown reception since a 17-yarder against Alabama in 2018. "He's had good practices, so it's not shocking or surprising to see him do well," Arkansas Coach Sam Pittman said. "It's just fun to watch him. because he's a hard-practicer and a really great kid." Warren also had an 11-yard catch on third and 8 on Arkansas' final possession to help the Razorbacks continue to eat up the clock. "De'Vion does a great job of communicating with me, just like the other receivers," Arkansas quarterback Feleipe Franks said. "I was able to get him the ball and he did a great job after the catch, getting the ball down the field...That was wonderful. I'm happy for him." - Northwest Arkansas Times

  10/05/20 - WR DeVion WarrenrSr/2022, Arkansas, 5-11, 182 (DS#99 WR) + More +

The odds of De'Vion Warren ever forgetting this weekend are slim to none. A 5-10 senior receiver whose contributions in the passing game through his first three seasons at Arkansas had been minimal at best, Warren played no small role in the Razorbacks' memorable 21-14 win at No. 16 Mississippi State. If not for his production and heady play in the absence of star receiver Treylon Burks, Arkansas' 20-game losing streak in SEC play may very well still be intact. Offensively, Warren was the Razorbacks' star, reeling in four passes for 100 yards and a touchdown against the Bulldogs. The four receptions in the win match his 2019 total, and the 100 yards more than triple his career output entering the season. "He did a great job," Arkansas coach Sam Pittman said via Zoom. "De'Vion has had some good practices. It's just like anything else, you're pretty much going to play like you practice and the kids have bought into that. "It's just fun to watch him because he's a hard practicer and a really great kid." - Northwest Arkansas Times
