Mississippi State brought in an experienced pass-catcher in Makai Polk. The Bulldogs also brought in an experienced pass-defender in Jalen Green. The former Texas safety played in 35 games for the Longhorns. He logged one interception and seven passes defended. Green has teamed back up with MSU safeties coach Jason Washington, who coached at Texas from 2017-19. Mississippi State's play in the secondary was hit or miss last year. Green could act as a stabilizing force for the position group as it looks to better defend the deep ball. - The Clarion Ledger

Mississippi State added a major missing piece to its 2021 secondary puzzle Saturday. MSU announced the addition of former Texas cornerback and top-50 recruit Jalen Green as a transfer. Green, the No. 47 player and No. 6 cornerback in the 2018 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, will enroll in school this month and be available for spring practices. A Houston, Texas native, the former fringe five-star recruit was recruited heavily by current MSU safeties coach Jason Washington when he served as the Longhorns' cornerbacks coach and recruiting coordinator. Washington again was heavily involved in Green's recruitment the second go-round, helping the Bulldogs secure his pledge. After redshirting his first year in Austin, Green played in 21 games for the Longhorns and recorded 22 tackles, 10 assists and five passes defensed. Should he have committed to MSU out of high school, he would have been rated the tenth-highest-ranked recruit to sign with the Bulldogs in school history. - The Dispatch

Another Texas Longhorns player is set to join fourth-year running back Keaontay Ingram in the NCAA transfer portal, as Inside Texas reported on Friday that fourth-year defensive back Jalen Green will enter the portal, too. Unfortunately for Green, his development didn't follow the same trajectory as some of his classmates. Not playing defense full time at Houston Heights was likely one reason, but the change in scheme in 2020 also played a role during Green's crucial junior season. As a freshman, the 6'1, 197-pounder mostly played on special teams before emerging as a seven-game starter in 2019 with 30 tackles, five pass breakups, and two tackles for loss. - Burnt Orange Nation
