Ja'Derris Carr and Blake Stenstrom ran for touchdowns in the first quarter and Princeton finally reached 8-0 by turning back Dartmouth 17-14 on Saturday. The Tigers (8-0, 5-0 Ivy League) lost to the Big Green (2-6, 1-4), co-champions the last two seasons, the last two times they had the opportunity to improve to 8-0. Princeton was 7-0 three times in 43 years before reaching - and now surpassing that - for the fifth-straight season.

It took the recovery on an onside kick to seal the win after Dartmouth's Jackson Proctor found Paxton Scott for a short touchdown with 17 seconds to play. Jace Henry got the first touchdown for Dartmouth with a six-yard run late in the first quarter. The difference in the game was a 23-yard field goal by Jeffrey Sexton that capped a 13-play, 73-yard drive 22 seconds before halftime. Stenstrom was 31-of-40 passing for 264 yards with Dylan Classi catching eight for 107 yards. Dartmouth was just 3 of 10 on third down. - Princeton/AP College Football

Blake Stenstrom threw for 290 yards, Ryan Butler scored twice and Princeton stymied Lafayette 23-2 on Saturday. After the two teams punted on their opening drives, the Tigers (4-0) sealed the win with three consecutive touchdown drives. Butler's 8-yard scoring run completed a nine-play, 54-yard drive. Niko Vangarelli scored from the 1 to complete a 12-play, 62-yard drive and Butler ran it in from a yard to finish a 10-play, 63-yard drive. On the point-after attempt following Butler's second score, the Leopards' Byron Johnson registered a defensive safety, returning the blocked PAT for Lafayette's only points. Rent Montie threw for 111 yards as Princeton held the Leopards (2-4) to 206 yards of offense. Princeton leads the all-time series 45-4-3 and has won 11 straight meetings in a rivalry that dates to 1883. - AP College Football

Blake Stentstrom threw for 257 yards with one touchdown and Princeton defeated Columbia 24-6 in an Ivy League opener on Saturday. Stentstrom completed 21 of 35 passes. Dylan Classi had six receptions for 133 yards. Ryan Butler and Niko Vangarelli had short touchdown runs for the Tigers. Columbia's Joe Green, who threw for a career-high 270 yards a week ago, completed 31 of 43 passes for only 186 yards and was intercepted three times. Aaron Brebnor returned a fumble 2 yards for a first-quarter touchdown that was Columbia's only score. The Lions (2-1) had allowed one touchdown and nine points through their first two games, road wins over Marist and Georgetown. The Lions had six sacks and held Princeton to 276 yards but managed only 235 of their own. It was the 91st meeting between the nation's oldest and third-oldest college football programs. Princeton leads the series 73-16 with one tie. The Tigers are 3-0 for the fourth consecutive season. - AP College Football

Former Colorado quarterback Blake Stenstrom is heading to Princeton. Stenstrom, who entered the NCAA transfer portal in February, announced his decision Tuesday evening on Twitter. "I am extremely grateful to announce my transfer acceptance and verbal commitment to play football at Princeton University," Stenstrom wrote. "It is an incredible honor to be welcomed into the (Princeton football) tradition." Stenstrom, a redshirt freshman last season with the Buffaloes, announced his decision to transfer after head coach Mel Tucker and offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Jay Johnson left CU for Michigan State. Stenstrom was expected to compete for the starting job at CU next season, but will now compete for the starting job at Princeton, which lost its quarterback to graduation. - Daily Camera
