  2019 ALL-OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM (COACHES): Kentel Williams, Austin Peay,...Austin Peay's versatile back excelled and finished third in the OVC with 773 rushing yards despite missing much of three games due to injury. His nine rushing touchdowns ranked second among league runners, and he supplemented those efforts with 26 catches for 192 yards and two more touchdowns receiving, setting or tying career highs in all three categories. A consensus top-five rusher in Austin Peay history, Williams is less than 200 yards on the ground from becoming the third player in program history with 3,000 career rushing yards. - Austin Peay Football

  Four different schools took home the four major 2019 Ohio Valley Conference football awards in voting conducted by league head coaches and communication directors and announced on Tuesday. Tennessee State senior wide receiver/return specialist Chris Rowland was named Offensive Player of the Year, Eastern Kentucky senior defensive lineman Aaron Patrick was tabbed Defensive Player of the Year, UT Martin redshirt freshman quarterback John Bachus III was named the Freshman of the Year and first-year Austin Peay head coach Mark Hudspeth earned the Roy Kidd OVC Coach of the Year honor.

Austin Peay, which shared the OVC regular season championship (its first since 1977), had the most selections with 11 across the teams, including seven first-team picks, two second-team selections and two All-Newcomer honorees. UT Martin was second with 10 selections, including five first-team picks. The All-OVC first-team included 18 seniors, seven juniors and one sophomore while the second-team included 11 seniors, five juniors, 10 sophomores and one freshman. - Ohio Valley Football

  JaVaughn Craigthrew two touchdown passes to DeAngelo Wilson, Prince Momodu ran for two scores and Austin Peay overwhelmed Murray State 42-7 on Saturday. Austin Peay wrapped it up with three touchdowns in the fourth quarter. The Governors (8-3, 6-1 Ohio Valley) scored on their first drive of the game when Momodu crashed in from a yard out, ending a 10-play, 75-yard drive. In the second quarter, Craig threw a 40-yard touchdown to Wilson with 9:48 before halftime. After intermission, Momodu ran it in from 10 yards for a 21-0 lead. The Racers got on the board when Preston Rice threw a 27-yard score to Jonathan Moss. Rice threw for 220 yards, a score and two interceptions. Austin Peay is in tie for first place with Southeast Missouri State (8-3, 6-1). The Governors beat the Redhawks 28-24 last month. The Governors end the season next week against Eastern Illinois (1-10, 1-6) and Southeast Missouri State ends with Murray State. - AP College Football

  Kentel Williams rushed for 118 yards and three touchdowns and Austin Peay breezed to a 38-24 victory over Tennessee-Martin on Saturday. After a scoreless first quarter, Austin Peay (7-3, 5-1 Ohio Valley Conference) caught fire in the second. Baniko Harley opened the scoring with a 7-yard TD run, capping a 10-play drive. The Governors stretched their lead to 14-0 when Kordell Jackson picked off a John Bachus III pass at their own 28-yard line. Two plays later Williams scored on a 67-yard run. Logan Birchfield's 23-yard field goal made it 17-0. Ryan Courtright's 50-yard field goal with 11 seconds left before halftime pulled UT Martin (6-4, 5-2) within 17-3.

Williams' 5-yard TD run at 6:59 in the third quarter put the Governors up 24-3. Williams had a 4-yard scoring run and Prince Momodu added a 17-yard TD run in the fourth quarter. Bachus threw three touchdown passes -- covering 6, 27 and 16 yards -- to Jaylon Moore in the second half for the Skyhawks. JaVaughn Craig completed 17 of 27 passes for 255 yards with an interception for Austin Peay. DeAngelo Wilson had six catches for 126 yards. Bachus was 20-of-41 passing for 286 yards with one pick for UT Martin. The Skyhawks had minus-25 yards rushing on 18 carries, while the Governors ran for 236 on 48 totes. With the victory, Austin Peay is tied with Southeast Missouri State atop the conference standings. UT Martin fell a half-game off the pace. - AP College Football

  2019 ALL-OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE FOOTBALL TEAM (COACHES): RB - Kentel Williams, Austin Peay,...Williams earns his first career Preseason All-OVC selection after being named First-Team All-OVC in 2018 when he led the FCS with a 7.99 yards per carry average. He finished third nationally in all-purpose yards per game, averaging 167.78 per contest, which helped him garner Third-Team All-America honors from the Associated Press as an all-purpose back.

Not only did Williams lead the Govs in 2018 with 831 yards rushing and seven touchdowns, he also led the OVC with 547 kickoff return yards to go along with 127 yards receiving and a touchdown. His 1,510 all-purpose yards was the sixth-highest single-season total in Austin Peay history. - Austin Peay Football
