  2019 ALL-OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM (COACHES): DB - Marlon Bridges, Jacksonville State,...Bridges, a redshirt-senior from Lanett, Ala., earns his fourth All-OVC honor in as many years on the field for the Gamecocks, including three on the first team. He finished the 2019 season with 59 tackles despite fighting nagging injuries for the second-straight season. He recorded five tackles for a loss and a sack, while breaking up five passes, picking up an interception and forcing a fumble.   WEEK 3 STATS FCS NATIONAL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Marlon Bridges, Jacksonville State, S, R-Sr., 6-0, 200, Lanett, Alabama,...Bridges had arguably the best game of his All-America career in Jacksonville State's 49-45 win over then-No. 4 Eastern Washington. He posted nine tackles, including a sack and three tackles for a total loss of 16 yards, forced a fumble and returned an interception 67 yards for a touchdown to open the second quarter when the Ohio Valley Conference power, down 28-7, needed a spark. Bridges had a big hit on EWU quarterback Eric Barriere to break up a late play.

  2019 PRESEASON STATS FCS BUCK BUCHANAN AWARD WATCHLIST: Marlon Bridges, Jacksonville State, S, R-Sr., 6-0, 2000,...Bridges added to his trophy case with his three All-America awards in 2018 after garnering first-team accolades from the AFCA and second-team honors from the Associated Press earlier this offseason. He was named to the second team in 2017, his fifth All-America nod of the season, following being named a preseason All-American by STATS, HERO Sports, Athlon and Lindy's. The safety was named a first team All-OVC defender for a third consecutive year following the 2018 campaign.

Despite fighting through an early season injury that held him off the field in parts of games at the beginning of the Gamecocks' slate, the junior from Lanett, Ala., had 52 stops, 1.5 for a loss, an interception and a forced fumble in the regular season. He totaled eight tackles against Maine and nine against ETSU during the FCS playoffs, including pick-six for 32 yards against the Bucs in the first round.
