Kedon Slovis completed 29 of 35 passes for 406 yards and four touchdowns against one of the Pac-12's top pass defenses, leading Southern California to a 41-17 victory over California on Saturday night. Slovis threw touchdown passes on the final drive of the first half for the Trojans (7-4, 6-2 Pac-12) and the opening drive of the third quarter to keep USC in the race for the Pac-12 South title. The Trojans are a half-game behind Utah but holds the tiebreaker based on a head-to-head win. The Golden Bears (5-5, 2-5) had no answer for Slovis and USC's talented group of receivers and lost for the fifth time in six games. After entering the day allowing a conference-low nine touchdown passes on the season, Cal was picked apart by Slovis.

Michael Pittman Jr. had 11 catches for 180 yards and a TD and Drake London added six catches for 111 yards and a score. Slovis connected on an 18-yard touchdown pass to Amon-Ra St. Brown to cap USC's opening drive and then helped the Trojans break open a tie game with his TDs surrounding halftime. He also connected on a 33-yard touchdown to Pittman on a third-and-12 in the final minute of the first half to make it 17-10. He then threw a 50-yard pass to St. Brown on the opening drive of the third quarter, setting up an 8-yard TD pass to London to make it a 14-point game. - USC/AP College Football

Christian Rector saw a receiver break free off the edge and slipped into coverage. Realizing the ball was coming his way, he stuck his hand up, tipped it to himself and made a diving interception. With one nimble play, Southern California's 6-foot-4, 270-pound defensive lineman halted Arizona State's comeback attempt, secured the Trojans' bowl eligibility and gave coach Clay Helton a respite for at least one more week. Kedon Slovis threw for 432 yards and four touchdowns, Rector made his game-clinching interception with 25 seconds left and USC held on to beat Arizona State 31-26 on Saturday. "I like being in that position at the end of games, having our defense out there," Rector said. "Being able to get stops, we're comfortable doing that."

USC (6-4, 5-2 Pac-12) needed plenty of big stops to become bowl eligible after missing the postseason last year. The Trojans jumped on the Sun Devils with 28 points in the first quarter behind Slovis' 297 yards and four TDs passing. As injuries piled up and Arizona State (5-4, 2-4) found a better rhythm on both sides of the ball, USC's lead dwindled from 21 in the first quarter to five by the fourth. Facing what would have been a disastrous collapse, the Trojans found a way to eke out a win and remain in the thick of the Pac-12 South race, a game behind No. 8 Utah. USC's Amon-Ra St. Brown caught eight passes for 173 yards and Michael Pittman Jr. had 13 catches for 146 yards. - USC/AP College Football

USC's fabulous freshman kept the Trojans unbeaten against Colorado. Freshman Kedon Slovis threw for 406 yards and four TD passes, including scores of 44 and 37 yards to Michael Pittman Jr . in the fourth quarter, and Southern California escaped Folsom Field with a 35-31 win Friday night over the hard-luck Buffaloes, who fell to 0-14 against the Trojans. The difference-maker was the 37-yarder with 2:15 left that gave USC its first lead since early in the second quarter. "Honestly the line just held up and Kedon threw me a great ball in stride and I just kind of ran around the defense," said Pittman, whose 44-yard TD cut Colorado's lead to 31-28 with about 11 minutes left.

Also coming up huge for the Trojans were fellow freshmen Amon-Ra St. Brown (37-yard TD run), Kenan Christon (85 rushing yards, TD reception), Drake London (seven catches for 85 yards). Christon and London also recovered fumbles by Kedon that kept alive two touchdown drives. "That was a great college football game tonight," Trojans coach Clay Helton said. "We knew walking in here that Colorado plays great ball at their place. I couldn't be any more proud of every man in that room." The Trojans (5-3, 4-1 Pac-12) improved to 14-0 all-time against Colorado with their first win in four road games this season and they handed the Buffaloes (3-5, 1-4) their fourth straight loss. - AP College Football

Michael Pittman went off against Utah, with one of the best individual receiving games in USC history pushing him to 11th in the country in yards receiving per game at 109.3. At 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, Pittman is a security blanket for whoever is playing quarterback for the Trojans. USC is already on its third after injuries to J.T Daniels (knee) and Kedon Slovis, who was knocked out of the Utah game early. No word on whether Matt Fink will have to start this week at No. 17 Washington, but his former roommate Pittman is here to help pull him through. - AP College Football

Michael Pittman Jr. caught 10 passes for a career-high 232 yards and a touchdown from backup quarterback Matt Fink, who passed for 351 yards in Southern California's 30-23 victory over No. 10 Utah on Friday night. Fink, a junior who nearly transferred last spring, went 21 of 30 with three touchdown passes for USC (3-1, 2-0 Pac-12) after taking over when freshman Kedon Slovis left with an undisclosed injury on the second play of the game. Fink mostly looked sharp as the third quarterback to play important snaps in four games for the Trojans, who lost starter J.T. Daniels to a season-ending knee injury in their opener.

Tyler Vaughns, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Pittman all caught TD passes from Fink, while Pittman had the fifth-biggest receiving yardage game in USC history. His remarkable 42-yard catch in the fourth quarter eventually led to a 4-yard TD run by Markese Stepp, who celebrated by handing the ball to Reggie Bush, the Trojans great attending the game as a broadcaster despite his NCAA-mandated disassociation from his school. Devontae Henry-Cole rushed for an early touchdown and Cole Fotheringham caught a TD pass for the Utes (3-1, 0-1), who struggled after star running back Zack Moss left in the first half with an apparent shoulder injury. Utah still has never won at the 96-year-old Coliseum. Tyler Huntley passed for 210 yards and ran for 60 more, but Utah committed 16 penalties for 120 yards and struggled to get key defensive stops against a green Trojans quarterback. - Southern Cal/AP College Football
