Arkansas defensive lineman Xavier Kelly is entering the 2021 NFL Draft. Kelly, a graduate transfer from Clemson, made the announcement in a post to his Twitter account on Wednesday. Kelly finished with eight tackles in nine games played in 2020. He totaled two tackles against Mississippi State, Auburn and Missouri, and recorded a sack in Arkansas' home win over Tennessee. - Northwest Arkansas Times

Graduate transfer Xavier Kelly, a 6-5, 311-pounder from Wichita, Kan., has helped provide the defensive tackles room with a veteran presence and the vibe of a player who has contributed to a national championship-caliber program at Clemson. "He's done a nice job, 315 pounds and got good power, plays with leverage and he has got good quickness," Odom said. "He may be a little bit quicker than I thought he would be. "Maybe his explosion at the point of attack inside. We've been able to move him around a little bit because of his skill set. So really excited that we have him. He's gonna have to play a lot of good snaps for us this year."

Kelly would seemingly be in line for a starting job along with Marshall, a fellow senior who has been the strongest player on the roster for several years. The sophomore Nichols; redshirt freshmen Marcus Miller, Taurean Carter and Enoch Jackson; and sophomore Nick Fulwider are the emerging backups. Kelly was asked this week why he chose Arkansas, a program that has struggled throughout Kelly's college career. "Why not Arkansas?" Kelly replied. "My official visit, I came and I got a chance to watch film with coach LeBlanc. He's just a very smart guy and very knowledgeable about the game. And I was like, 'That's who I want to play for." "Just the way he coaches, he's very technically sound. And I wanted to play under coach Odom. I got a chance to meet the guys on my official visit, and I got a good vibe." - Northwest Arkansas Times

Graduate transfer Xavier Kelly, a backup for Clemson teams that have been competing for national championships the last several years, comes aboard the Arkansas defensive front as a former top 150 prospect out of Wichita, Kan. He's one of a large group of newcomers on the Razorbacks' front that includes junior college transfer Julius Coates, a 6-6, 281-pounder who was an early enrollee in January, Boykin and fellow freshmen Jaqualin McGhee and Jashaud Stewart. - Northwest Arkansas Times

Kelly, a former all-state basketball player in high school, possesses the needed physical tools and athleticism. But for much of his Clemson career, he had to sit behind one of the nation's best defensive lines in Clelin Ferrell, Dexter Lawrence, Christian Wilkins and Austin Bryant - three of whom were first-round picks in last year's NFL Draft and the other, Bryant, was a fourth-round selection. With those players out of the mix in 2019, and with a scheme change, Kelly was still passed over on the depth chart by younger players this past season. "He's going to be a dominant player at Arkansas," said former Clemson teammate K'Von Wallace, a safety who was a fourth-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in last month's draft. "His athleticism, the way he can jump, his speed, his tenacity to just go out there and compete - he was just an athlete, freakish athlete. If he can get his brains where his athletic, God-given ability is, the sky's the limit." - Northwest Arkansas Times
