Kavontae Turpin, Texas Christian, Player News

A familiar face has put his name back in the spotlight during the inaugural USFL season. On Wednesday, the league announced former TCU wide receiver KaVontae Turpin won its Most Valuable Player award for the 2022 season. While playing for one of only two teams that went 9-1 in the regular season, the New Jersey Generals' top playmaker made big contributions in both the passing and kick return game. Turpin, 25, led the league in receiving yards (540) and yards after catch (316), feats he accomplished despite being targeted only 53 times, well behind league-leader and former Dallas Cowboys receiver Lance Lenoir (88 targets).

Turpin also led the USFL in punt return average (15.3) and was the only player to score a touchdown on a kick return this season. While at TCU, Turpin appeared in 42 games from 2015-18, and he collected more than 2,000 yards from scrimmage in his career. However, he went undrafted out of college before eventually landing in the USFL. - Dallas Morning News
