  NOV 18 SOUTHLAND OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Shelton Eppler, Northwestern State, Sr., Quarterback, Navasota, Texas,...Trailing 28-24 in the third quarter against the Bearkats, Eppler punched it in from five-yards out for the game-winning score and his first career rushing touchdown. Through the air, he posted his fifth 300-yard game of the season, connecting with Kendrick Price for a 67-yard scoring strike and Quan Shorts on a one-yard touchdown. Eppler walked off the field of the penultimate game of his Demon career as the program leader in single-season total offense (3,309) and the first 3,000 yard passer in school history (3,254), upping his tally of game, season or career records to 14.   Shelton Eppler passed for 306 yards and ran for the winning score as Northwestern State came from 14 points down to upset Sam Houston State 31-28 on Saturday. The loss knocked the Bearkats (6-5, 5-3) out of a four-way tie for first in the Southland Conference. Donovan Williams scored two early touchdowns, and a 23-yard interception return by Dwayne Williams staked Sam Houston to a 21-7 lead after a quarter.

Northwestern State (3-8, 3-5) turned the tables with a 17-point momentum swing in the second quarter. Eppler passed to Quan Shorts for a 78-yard pass play, Daniel Justino added a 43-yard field goal and Shemar Bartholomew returned an interception 96 yards for a 24-21 halftime lead. The teams traded TD rushes in the third quarter with Eppler running in the game-winner from 5 yards out. The Bearkats were held to four punts and were intercepted on their final five possessions. Sam Houston State's five losses have all been by a touchdown or less. - AP College Football

  Shelton Eppler threw four touchdown passes to lead Northwestern State to a 34-13 victory over Lamar on Saturday night. Northwestern State (2-8, 2-5 Southland Conference) has won two of its last three games while Lamar (4-6, 2-5) has lost three straight. Eppler completed 24 of 35 passes for 289 yards and threw a pair of TD passes to Kendrick Price, who finished with six catches for 69 yards. Myles Ward and Tanner Ash each had a scoring catch, and Stadford Anderson added 84 yards rushing that included a 40-yard touchdown run with 6:10 left in the game. Michael Lawson scored on a 15-yard interception return for Lamar. Bailey Giffen made field goals from 37 and 25 yards. Lawson's pick-6 in the second quarter and Giffen's 25-yarder midway through the third pulled the Cardinals to 14-13. - AP College Football
