  2021 ALL-NORTHEAST CONFERENCE FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM (COACHES): WR Tyshaun James, Central Connecticut, Sr.,...James capped his career as CCSU's all-time leader with 18 career receiving touchdowns. The senior wideout was named All-NEC First Team for the second time. One of the top receivers in the league, James finished with 45 catches for 674 yards and five touchdowns, while added 67 rushing yards and a touchdown on 22 carries. He also ranked among the NEC leaders in receptions per game (4.09, 4th), receiving yards per game (59.0, 5th) and all-purpose yards per game (65.09, 7th). James had a league-high 169 yards on seven catches with a touchdown on Nov. 13 at Duquesne. - Central Connecticut Football

  Shon Mitchell threw two touchdown passes, Joe Zoppi kicked a 31-yard field goal on the final play, and Central Connecticut State defeated Saint Francis (Pa.) 24-21 on Saturday. With the score tied at 21 late in the fourth quarter, Saint Francis punter Jordan Slaiby could not field the snap from center and Central Connecticut took possession at the Red Flash 27-yard line. CCSU ran out the final two minutes, capped by Zoppi's third field goal of the game for the Blue Devils (4-7, 4-3 Northeast Conference). All five of the game's touchdowns were through the air as Saint Francis' Justin Sliwoski threw three TD passes to answer Mitchell's two. Sliwoski completed 14 of 20 passes for 254 yards.   NOV 11 NEC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: TYSHAUN JAMES, CENTRAL CONNECTICUT, WR, Jr., 6-3, 210 lbs., Middletown, CT/Middletown,...WEEK 11 Stats: 143 scrimmage yards (95 rec, 48 rush), 34 pass yards, 6 receptions, 95 rec yards, TD reception, 48-yard TD rush, 1-for-1 passing (34 yards)...James did it all for CCSU's offense during a 38-31 overtime victory over Saint Francis. Accounting for 177 yards, the versatile wide receiver gained 95 yards on six catches, rushed for 48 yards and completed a 34-yard pass. He scored two key second-half touchdowns, one on the ground and one through the air.

James was responsible for the game's first pass completion, executing a wide receiver option play on 2nd-and-6 and connecting with Jiovany Pierre 34 yards downfield. The versatile receiver found the end zone on a 48-yard rush that tied the score at 21-21 with 6:46 left in the third quarter. James struck again midway through the fourth quarter, securing a contested catch for a 15-yard touchdown that gave CCSU a 28-24 edge. - NEC Football

  SEPT 23/WEEK 4 NEC CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: TYSHAUN JAMES, CENTRAL CONNECTICUT, WR, Jr., 6-3, 210 lbs., Middletown, CT/Middletown,...WEEK 4 Stats: 151 scrimmage yards, 2 total TD (1 rush, 1 rec), 2 receptions, 118 rec yards, 33 rush yards, 5 rushes,...James stacked up 151 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns during Central Connecticut's visit to FBS member Eastern Michigan. The receiver totaled 118 yards on two catches and rushed five times for 33 yards in the last-second setback. His dynamic late-game scoring play put the Blue Devils in position to snatch an upset victory.

With his team facing a 28-22 deficit, James flew past the secondary for a 68-yard touchdown reception that allowed CCSU to take a 29-28 edge with 2:05 remaining in the contest. His 10-yard touchdown run, which came on the final snap of the first quarter, gave the Blue Devils a 15-7 edge over the Eagles. The 6-foot-3 wideout accounted for a 27-yard rush and a 50-yard reception on back-to-back plays to power a fourth-quarter scoring drive that brought the Blue Devils within 28-22.
