  Chattanooga's Nick Tiano threw for 133 yards and a touchdown and was selected the Most Valuable Player of the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl after leading the National squad to a 30-20 victory over the American team Saturday. Tiano, who was 9 of 11 passing, gave his team a 17-7 lead early in the second quarter with a pinpoint 48-yard TD toss to Kirk Merritt. The Arkansas State receiver was in perfect position to haul it in despite double coverage from cornerbacks Ray Buford Jr. of New Mexico State and Damon Hayes of Rutgers.

Oregon State's Artavis Pierce, Georgia's Brian Herrien and New Mexico State's Jason Huntley rushed for touchdowns for the National team, which was led by former Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis. Louisiana-Lafayette running back Raymond Calais provided the American squad's top play with a 100-yard kick return for a touchdown on the opening play of the second half.   Nick Tiano passed for two touchdowns and rushed for a go-ahead score with 28 seconds left as Chattanooga rallied from a 14-point third-quarter deficit to beat The Citadel 34-33 on Saturday. Chattanooga trailed 26-12 after The Citadel rattled off 24 straight points. But in the fourth, Elijah Ibitokun-Hanks had scoring runs of 11 and 45 yards to get Chattanooga within 33-27 with 7:21 left. The Citadel punted on its next two possessions and Tiano capped an eight-play, 73-yard game-winning drive with a 12-yard run.

Tiano was 11 of 29 for 268 yards with one interception, and he carried it 11 times for 31 yards. Ibitokun-Hanks led the rushing attack for Chattanooga (6-5, 5-2 Southern), gaining 119 yards and scoring twice. Bryce Nunnelly caught four passes for 129 yards and a TD and Tyrin Summers added 90 yards and a score. The Citadel (6-5, 4-3) carried it 63 times for 351 yards and two touchdowns. Remus Bulmer had 12 carries for 130 yards and Brandon Rainey rushed it 22 times for 67 yards and a score.   Nick Tiano accounted for three touchdowns to lead Chattanooga to a 35-27 victory over Samford on Saturday. Tiano completed 17 of 28 passes for 196 yards, threw a pair of touchdown passes and added 100 yards rushing that included a 1-yard TD run. Elijah Ibitokun-Hanks added 139 yards rushing on 27 carries with two touchdown runs and a scoring catch for Chattanooga (5-5, 4-2 Southern Conference). Liam Welch threw two touchdown passes and ran for a third score to lead Samford (4-6, 3-4), which trailed 28-7 at halftime. Welch ran into the end zone from the 2 and tossed a 9-yard touchdown pass to Kendall Watson that pulled the Bulldogs to 28-20, but Tiano answered with a 4-yard TD pass to Ibitokun-Hanks that stretched the Mocs' lead to 35-20 late in the third quarter. Welch ran for a 4-yard touchdown and Chattanooga recovered the ensuing onside kick inside the final minute. - AP College Football

  Nick Tiano threw for two touchdowns and ran for another score as Chattanooga beat Mercer 34-17 on Saturday. Tiano was 18 of 31 for 190 yards passing for the Mocs (3-3, 2-0 Southern Conference). Ailym Ford ran for 116 yards and a score and Victor Ulmo kicked two field goals. Chattanooga trailed by seven early but a fumble recovery by Ty Boeck deep in Mercer territory led two plays later to a Tiano throw to Bryce Nunnelly to even the score. The ensuing kickoff was returned 98 yards by Mercer's Deondre Johnson for a touchdown and the Mocs trailed again, 14-7. Ford's 8-yard scoring run made it 14-14 early in the second quarter and an Ulmo field goal just before halftime put the Mocs up 17-14. Tiano opened the second half for Chattanooga with a 10-play, 75-yard drive capped with a short touchdown throw to Chris James for a 24-14 lead. Mercer's only score in the second half was Caleb Dowden's field goal early in the fourth. Robert Riddle threw for 228 yards and a touchdown for the Bears (2-4, 1-2). - AP College Football
