2012 NFL Draft Pick #3: The Cleveland Browns Select Trent Richardson, HB, Alabama

College Career: 540 carries, 3,243 yards, 5.8 avg., 35 TD’s, 64 catches, 730 yards, 7 TD’s

The Browns traded a 4th, 5th, and 7th round pick to trade up to get this young man. They solved a lot of problems with this pick too. The Browns needed this guy to help out youngster QB Colt McCoy.

The Browns lost Peyton Hillis to free agency, but they may have upgraded with this pick. Richardson is the highest rated running back in a long time. He finished third in the voting for the Heisman Trophy, and won the Doak Walker Award as the nation’s top HB.

As Jon Gruden said, “Every time you make the decision to tackle him, it’s a business decision.” Richardson is a punishing running back that can handle the rock on the outside or between the tackles.
